From an assistant director to executive producer to a supervising producer his journey has been an interesting one. Known to be responsible and reliable, this man is currently working with Endemol as a supervising producer.

For the Behind the Lens section of Tellychakkar.com here he talks about his journey, artists of the industry and many more. Experts from the interview.

Share with us the story of your early life and background.

Hailing from a small town Yavatmal, near Nagpur, I have completed my post graduation in Mass Communication from Pune. In 2001 I moved to Mumbai and started my journey as an assistant director with Hinduja group. At that time Hinduja group was into cable business and after enjoying my stint as an assistant director, I started working as a promo producer. From there to till date as a supervising producer, I have worked with many production houses including Shashi Sumeet Productions, Endemol, Balaji Telefilms and many other production houses.

As a supervising producer what challenges do you face?

In general, the job of a supervising producer is quite challenging to manage everything on the sets. There are instances when things will turn out to be bad, but at that point of time, we have to keep calm and continue with our responsibilities. Moreover, supervising producers, work as the bridge to gap the difference between actor and producer. Hence, getting both of them on the same line can at times be challenging (laugh). Whatever the issues may be we have get our work done.

So, which actors have given you a tough time?

Well before answering that question I will say that they have their own points which are justifiable. But, here comes the skills of a supervising producer, who has to look into such matter and it is my job profile to solve the issues. And coming to the names, I believe all are aware about the actors. I personally have worked with few best professionals in the industry.

Which actors will you name to be professional?

Topping the chart will be any day Yash Tonk. I have never seen such a brilliant and sorted out actor like him. Even after becoming one of the senior most stars in the industry, I have hardly seen him throwing tantrums or creating issues. He always used to be at the set on time and used to prepare himself before the shots. Following him will be Ronit Roy and Hiten Tejwani, who are equally professional.

After spending so many years in the industry, what changes have you witnessed in all these years?

Well, from the time I started, till date the industry has changed a lot. And the change has implied not only in the production techniques, contents and storytelling, but also in terms of managing its resources. So many young crews are joining the profession now. With the industry growing and developing it has provided a platform to many unemployed youths to earn their livelihood.

According to you what are the most important factors to make a show successful?

(Laugh) If I would have known the formula of making a hit show, then perhaps I would have been the most successful producer ever. What actually clicks with audience I believe is still a mystery for the audience. For example I can say that Zee TV’s show Pavitra Rishta was nothing out of the box, but somehow the chemistry of the lead couple and the story line worked with the audience, while others on the same line didn’t.

In terms of content what are the changes that can be witnessed in shows of current time?

Well, there was a time, when we used to watch shows based on literary works, which is hardly visible these days. That can be termed as a major difference. But, on a second thought nowadays, shows are exploring with many new concepts and contents, which are absolutely original and not based on someone else’s work. At times such shows are mere reflection of the contemporary society.

As the man is currently preparing for some of his upcoming projects, we wish him all the luck.
