If there is something which is harder than making a movie it is making your first movie. It is inspiring to hear words of wisdom from veterans in the industry on how they were successful despite overwhelming odds (and underwhelming budgets) and taking cue from them, a lot of other aspirants flood into the industry everyday.

Vikas Phadnis, who started his career as a Casting Director and later entered into Executive Production has now joined the camp of Directors. Vikas is excited to make his debut as a Director with a woman-centric film which will circle around the life of how women make the most in life.

Shedding some light about his project, Vikas said, “I started off as a casting director and later turned to executive production to get an idea of what goes into the making of a project. I have worked on a few ad films in the south industry and also a Bollywood film, Khel Toh Ab Shuru Hoga featuring Ruslaan Mumtaz.

The film I am working on is under my banner of Creative Films. We are planning to get a good small-screen face on board along with semi-known faces.”

Talking about the challenges he is facing at the moment, he averred, “The biggest challenge I am facing at the moment is that the actresses want to associate with a big banner. However, people are loving the script and that is my strength.”

When asked how is it to work in the industry which is full of competition, Vikas expressed, “Well, it is stressful. But if you want to achieve something in life, you have to work hard towards it. There is nothing called as a free meal! The main challenge of working behind the camera is to keep the viewer glued to watching it till it ends. I work for 12 to 14 hours a day and currently I am focusing on making my pre-production. This phase is very important to me as if we compromise here, the commercial value will decrease.”

Sharing an idea about the film he is working on, Vikas added, “We have seen Bollywood films such as Dil Chahata Hai, Zindagi Na Mile Dobara, Pyaar Ka Punchnama and others where men are seen having a blast. Women are, most of the time projected to be timid and emotional. My film will explore that side of women which seldom people are aware of. The fun and pulsating life they actually live will leave the men amazed!”
