The singing reality show that has kids from all over the country displaying their immense talent is a regular post-dinner feature for us. But what makes the show truly worthwhile is the panel of judges…one of them being the sassy singer-musician Vishal Dadlani. We tell you why he is a kick ass judge. Read on:

His ready wit:

Even though the show is about singing, Dadlani doesn’t leave any opportunity to put forth his witty side. Whether it’s his remarks on a particular singer’s talent, a quip on somebody’s song selection or a simple laugh-worthy joke for the audiences, this guy is doing a brilliant job of keeping us entertained.

Energy, thy name is Vishal:

Whenever he’s asked to come on the stage to croon a number, he brings along his contagious energy and dramatic signing style. We absolutely love his fun-filled songs. What’s more, even the kids love him and try to copy his magnificent rendering and range.

Sensible comments:

When you’re dealing with kids, it pays to be sensible. Because they do not understand the nuances that come with adulthood. Vishal has aced his ‘how to talk to kids’ game, thanks to his previous stint as a judge. He is never condescending, pretentious or rude. Moreover, wherever necessary, he lavishes the contestants with compliments, while also pointing out their mistakes in an encouraging manner. How. Cool. Is. That!

His camaraderie with other judges:

Young singers need to know the difference between contemporaries and competitors. Just because you’re fighting it out on the show doesn’t mean that you’re sworn enemies in real life. Vishal and Salim Merchant make this clear, and how! Both are fabulous musicians and singers, who are part of the rat race in Bollywood. But they not only appreciate each other, but also make sure that their friendship sends a positive message to the kids. In fact, Salim has sung for many Vishal-Shekhar compositions.

His rock star image:

His dark clothes, bald head, vigorous voice and brooding personality make him the finest modern rock star of Bollywood. Even though he is a charming man and rather hilarious by nature, kids assume him to be the serious, guitar-strutting singer of their dreams. In a way, his persona makes the kids strive harder and perform better. After all, which 10-year-old has ever resisted a rock star?
