This is General Election time when candidates of political parties go around canvassing and seeking votes for themselves to be elected to the next Lok Sabha in different parts of the country! This election, unlike the earlier ones, is the battle of ideas when three leading candidates for the Prime Minister’s post are going around telling people the changes they want to bring about in the coming five years. And with this, a lot of talk about ‘Who would become the next Prime Minister of India this year?’ has been gaining ground by the day. The electoral battle will be a test of the three parties represented by Narendra Modi (BJP), Arvind Kejriwal (AAP) and Rahul Gandhi (Congress). It has also put the power of communication with the people of the three to test. Fed up with the gone by days when citizens of our country have seen the country going through a lot of scams, atrocities on women etc, people now want a leader who has a vision to lead India through thick and thin. While the election process, that begun from 7 April, is still on, we ask television actors about their preferred choice who could lead the country next? Excerpts: Shrenu Parikh: I am vouching for Modi Sarkar; so much so that I am even campaigning for the party and am sure he will be our next Prime Minister. Sumit Vats: It can be anyone but I hope our next PM will be someone who will have a vision to make our nation a better place to live in. Mohit Sehgal: In the current scenario, there is no better person than Narendra Modi to be the next Prime Minister of India. As a nation, we really need a change and I think ‘Modi Sarkar’ will bring about many changes in our existing circumstances. Vrinda Dawda: There are lots of politicians who give us hopes on how things will change for the better after the formation of a government. But sadly nothing happens. I think Narendra Modi will win the elections and also feel that he will bring about some changes. So let’s keep our fingers crossed for our hopes to come true. Anas Rashid: I feel that a person who knows the condition of every nook and corner of our country understands the situations well and can help resolve problems, should be our next Prime Minister. Here, a minister bringing about a change in one or two states does not matter, it is about the entire country. We need a government ‘Of The People, By The People, For The People’. Surbhi Jyoti: I think it will be Modi. We have given enough opportunities to the Congress to showcase their strategies and abilities but all that they did went in vain. Now I believe BJP should be given a chance and they should bring in a positive change in the country. Dekh liya Congress ko kai baar…is baar Modi Sarkar! Somya Seth: I am positive that Narendra Modi would be the next Prime Minister of our country seeing the remarkable job he has done for Gujarat. On this strength I want to see him as the next Prime Minister of India. Divyanka Tripathi: I want Narendra Modi to be the next Prime Minister of our country. People find out faults in him but I ask which politician does not have negative points? Moreover, we have seen what Modiji has done for his state on a practical level. The clean roads, infrastructure and every bit of Gujarat has been worked on at an exorbitant level in the last 10-15 years. I want to see my entire country advance likewise under the guidance of Modi. I mean look at what the Congress has done. Every year the roads need to be reconstructed before the rains and these very roads are badly damaged to such an extent in the rainy season that they go beyond repairs. Flyovers are constructed for months with no end to it. Besides there are many more things that really need attention. I feel Modi Sarkar can bring in this change. Shilpa Anand: I feel Modi has a strong chance to be our next Prime Minister as people are really taken over for by what he has done for Gujarat. People hope that he will do more for India. Kunal Karan Kapoor: I do not think that any harbinger of change is there currently anywhere on the horizon. India definitely needs a change but I do not see that happening in the current scenario.
