JK Rowling's epic fantasy drama that took the world by storm isn't coming back on the big screen anytime soon. But that doesn't mean that we can't fantasise a little about it. So here's our imagination running wild. We have recast the actors with an Indian twist. If the show were made on Indian TV, this is how the cast should look like...check out

Shantanu Maheshwari as Harry Potter:

The heartthrob of millions of girls will make for a perfect Harry. He is as talented and smart as his bespectacled counterpart from the famous series. While Potter was the master of magic and deception, Maheshwari is an expert dancer who spins magic with his moves. We are sure that he can not only come out on top of his class like Potter, but also be an exemplary contemporary and inspiration to others. 

Drashti Dhami as Hermione Granger:

Hermione is Harry's perfect side-kick who is smart, beautiful, intelligent and caring. She might come across as a know-it-all, but she is generous and giving, which Harry finds out later in the series. Our very own Madhubala will make for a gorgeous Hermione, what with her acting chops, caring attitude and an amazing fan following. She would make for a rather sexy witch whose pairing with Potter will make for an interesting watch. 

Shaheer Sheikh as Ronald Weasley:

The dapper actor, known for his charismatic screen presence and killer looks, is perfect as Harry's best buddy and later brother-in-law. Sheikh is also more of an underdog in the industry, just like Ron. Nobody thought he would end up with Hermoine, but he does. We are dying to see his crackling chemistry with Drashti because this is a pair we haven't see on the small screen so far. 

Karan Tacker as Draco Malfoy:

The cunning magician from the fantasy series makes Harry's life hell. He is the one of the antagonists that the three best buds have to fight against. Karen Tacker is one of the most good looking men on the small screen and we are sure he would be able to pull this role off with élan. With his striking looks and boyish appeal, he is perhaps as close to his English counterpart as one can get. Will he make a cool bad boy? We are sure that he would...what about you guys?

Alok Nath as Albus Dumbledore:

Dumbledore is the righteous headmaster who trains and helps Harry and his buddies fight evil enemies. Now who else can fit into the role of a headmaster than small screen's 'Babuji' aka Alokh Nath? Nath makes for an ideal leader others look up to and we are sure he would do a swell job as the slightly eccentric, but highly talented headmaster of the wizards.

Ram Kapoor as Rubeus Hagrid:

Forgive us for carting the obvious, but who else could pull off the half-giant and half-human character of Hagrid? Ram Kapoor is not only known for his sincere acting and effortless dialogue delivery, but also for his rolly-polly tummy and chubby weight. He would make for an ideal gamekeeper at Hogwarts. We are already excited about this, are you too? 

Saurabh Raaj Jain as Severus Snape:

The potions master's true loyalties are never revealed throughout the series (except at the end). In fact, we don't even come to know if he is supporting Harry or his arch rival. Jain has played a variety of mythological characters on the small screw so playing Snape would be perfect for his career growth. He is an extremely talented actor, which is required to play the layered, complicated and often mysterious role of JK Rowling's widely acclaimed character.

Shikha Singh as Bellatrix Lestrange:

Shikha's negative role in Kumkum Bhagya has not only fetched her rave reviews, but also given her a place in this desi Potter squad. We are certain that she would make a perfect Bellatrix, the death eater from the series who is known for her cruelty, duels and torturous nature. But are Indian audiences ready for such a female character? Considering how easily we take offence to everything, we are not sure how people would react to this character. 

Sanaya Irani as Ginevra Weasley-Potter:

Ginny starts off as a novice, who grows into a confident and able woman when she grows up. Much like the roles Sanaya plays. They start off as sweet, but turn into mature roles by the show wraps up. So wouldn't Irani be perfect as Harry Potter's wife? Whether she and Shantanu share a killer chemistry Is something we don't know about, but we are sure that the petite actress would do complete justice to her role. After all, it's not every day that you get to play a pure-blooded witch, right?

Shivaji Satam as Alastor Moody:

Yes, yes, we know we have taken you by complete surprise with this casting. But the CID actor is known for his fun side as well as his ability to play a variety of roles. He would be perfect as 'mad-eye' because his tough and brooding nature suits Shivaji to the T. Will the experienced actor don an eye patch and play this role with as much elegance as the Irish actor Brendon Gleeson? We hope yes. What do you guys think? 

Suhasini Mulay as Minerva McGonagall:

It would be refreshing to see Suhasini in the role of a professor who leads one of the battles against Harry's archival. She will add lot of layer to the role and make her attempt something different and fun. Considering how perfect her acting is, this role would be a cakewalk for her. 

Alka Kaushal as Dolores Umbridge:

Umbridge is hated by teachers and students alike for her cruel punishments and witchy ways. This is a role cut-out for Alka Kaushal, whose vamp-esque avatars have made her one of the most sought-after actors of the small screen. 

Vivian Dsena and Varun Kapoor as Fred and George Weasley:

The mischievous identical twins whose rebellious nature makes them one of the coolest at Hogwarts can only be recreated by Vivian Dsena and Varun Kapoor. The two many not be identical twins, but they share an uncanny resemblance with each other. It might look like we are wasting their talent in this not-so-lengthy role, but who else on the small screen can pass off as twins?

Ronit Roy as Lord Voldemort:

Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter who scares people so much that nobody even dares to acknowledge him by his name. Ronit Roy has played a number of roles on the small screen, but his villainous outings have fetched him the most number of accolades. But when pitted against Shantanu, won't Ronit look too imposing? Well, may be, that's the idea!
