#WorldMusicDay: Musical Television Shows

WorldMusicDay
The French poet and writer Victor Hugo once said that: Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. Music has rightly touched many souls and has also inspired many storytellers on screen. Many shows have been made on television set on the same backdrop. And as the world celebrates Music Day today, here on Tellychakkar.com we present you with some of the best musical shows made on small screen. Remix- The path breaking musical drama was about four high school students of Maurya High, who formed a band together. With popular rock band Aasma supporting them and lending their voice for the show, it was destined to become a cult classic. Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai- The love saga of a rock star and an aspiring singer surely hit the right chord with audience and was an instant hit. Hot Angad (Iqbal Khan) and sensitive Kripa’s (Neha Bamb) sizzling chemistry with some rock music is something we miss even today. Kasturi- Though it was mainly a love story between Robbie (Karan Patel) and Kasturi (Shubhangi Atre Poorey), it had its male lead as a rock star. Though, in the show we hardly noticed Robbie to sing or perform in a show, nevertheless it showed a different aspect of a rock star’s life. Kyunn Hota Hai Pyaar- One of the earliest of its kind, it was perhaps the first youth musical series on a popular GEC. Kids now may know Amit Sadh for Kai Po Che, but our generation surely remembers him as the cute, cool, guitarist college heartthrob. Kitani Mohabbat Hai- The most romantic television daily ever was about a young aspiring singer Arohi. Music played an essential role in her love story and helped to bond. Not to forget the title track of the series was equally soothing for ears. Kumkum Bhagya- And Ekta Kapoor’s fascination with rock star made a hat trick with this daily. For the third time she made her hero a rock star. Though Abhi (Shabbir Ahluwalia) is hardly seen performing, but his looks and attitude surely compliments his so-called profession. Kaarthika- Viewers might not recall the name of the show, but Ekta Kapoor never supported gender biasness and here’s the proof. After making few male rock stars, she turned to female folks and selected Jennifer Winget to essay the role of an aspiring rock star for Disney channel. Swaragini- The cross cultural series is mostly a family drama, but it surely focuses on two half sisters bonding over music. While Swara (Helly Shah) is an ardent follower of western music, Ragini (Tejaswi Prakash Wayangankar) is trained in Hindustani classical. Few glimpse of their jugalbandi in the series is surely something worth watching. Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan- It will not be wrong if we call this one to be the modern day Remix. As popular as the cult classic, this one is on the verge of making history. Not only Manan’s love story, but also the friendship of five friends bonding over music touches our heart. Badtameez Dil- The recently launched show is about the protagonist who dreams of making it big in the music industry. India’s Raw Star famed, Darshan Rawal also extended his support for the show by recording five exclusive songs. Hope this true musical show will be a hit.
