The gossip mills seem to be working overtime these days. Earlier in the day when we were warming up to get, set and roll with our editorial content, a source (with devil horns…just kidding) pinged us a spicy bit of gossip. This is what the info we received: “You know Smita Bansal, the actress of Balika Vadhu on Colors, is having a thing or so with her co actor Siddharth Shukla. They say they spent some time in Dubai together.” Okay…the words used by our source were not parliamentary but then we are just sharing info with our readers. The juicy bit of goss got us going. Reason: Smita Bansal is very much a happy married woman (wedded to Director Ankush Mohla) with two kids. She is dignified and a woman of substance. But could it be possible that the stress of the glam world got the better of her and she went astray? Anything could have been possible. But as credible journalists, we dug deep to check the veracity of the lead thrown at us. But before we share what Smita told us, this is what the source added: “Smita initially told everyone that she had to visit Dubai to attend an award function. But later, we realized that she did not get an invite. Then she said that she was in Dubai to launch a saree shop. But strangely, she had no pics and details about the event. Everyone on the sets of Balika Vadhu has been talking about her affair with Siddharth and that she was in Dubai to be with him.” Armed with this bit, we buzzed Smita. The lovely lady said: “Yes, I was in Dubai at the launch event of a saree shop and I don’t need to get into details of it. I don’t need to clarify anything. People are just cooking up stories.” She continued: “And know what? Today is my birthday and my husband, who was far away from Mumbai shooting (in Uttar Kashi), paid a surprise visit in the morning. We are very much in love and happy after 12 years of marriage.” Well, that settles it. We also tried to get a response from Siddharth but he did not speak out till the time of filing the article. Does his silence spell a different story? Or maybe he does not want to get into the controversy? Well, if he chooses to get back, we will always share his thoughts in this space.
