The quirky world of television is full of stars, starry mood swings, the rat race for the stellar roles and lots more... BP set to thrill some more Ace serial maker B P Singh, whose spine tingling ventures have been a consistent success, is set to thrill some more. Apart from revamping the weekly CID on Sony, he has plans to make two more shows for Sony. While one of these is Aahat 2, a sequel to the thriller that he unleashed some years ago, the second is too is a thriller (what else?) based on a novel, authored by a Pune based novelist. Both hit screens before the end of the year. Sony's doing well to back a winning horse, what say? Sonal to backstab Shweta Balaji Telefilms' Kasauti Zindagi Kay is set for an interesting turn of events. Sonal Sehgal (who plays a lawyer) will defend Shweta Tiwari (aka Prerna) who is accused of Aparna's murder. Just when everything seems to be going in favour of Shweta, Sonal will turn the tables on her! Guess why! Sonal will fall in love with Ronit Roy (aka Mr Bajaj)!! Grips you?? Talent hunt of a different kind! It's an institution that has thrown up many a prominent television artiste. And continues to sift from the clutch of aspiring collegians the few sparks that show the promise of a bright TV career. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's inter collegiate drama competition is round the corner once again and the hunt for the best play, artiste etc is on in right earnest. The countdown begins on 16 November. At stake are the Shafi Inamdar Trophy for the best director, and the Bhakti Barve Inamdar Trophy for the best actress, to be chosen from among the several 90 one act plays that will be enacted. For those of you aspirants to the glam world of television acting, directing and scriptwriting, and want a shot at fame, contact Kamlesh Mota on 23698085 or 98201 98003 before the week is over. Vinta's moment in the sun Vinta Nanda's White Noise (Rahul Bose, Koel Purie, Aryan Vaid) set against the backdrop of the television industry will be screened at the Karachi and Florence film festivals. White Noise, which is a Mahesh Bhatt presentation, is sure to stir some skeleton secrets in this business. The lady is not telling, but so what, we can put two and two together. Meanwhile Pooja Bhatt's forthcoming production Rog will also see the light of day at Karachi this December. The film directed by Himanshu Brahmbhatt, stars international hot-bod Ilene Hamman with Irrfan Khan (who is doing a fair job in Ekta Kapoor's Kya Kahein), Himanshu Malik (who shared 17 smooches with Mallika Sherawat in Khwaaish) and Munish Makhija (Pooja's husband). Cool babe, Gurdip Gurdip Kohli has no qualms as Cinevistaas' Sanjivani- A Medical Boon enters its last stages. The petite beauty (Lucky Arjun Punj!) has sufficient offers in her kitty. We know of at least two. Le Jayenge Le Jayenge by Contiloe Films is one and Cinevistaas' forthcoming Sujata (tentative title) is another. We have a feeling, Gurdip might just opt for the latter. Let's see. 'Sanjivani', bye bye For those interested in how the heavy-duty Sanjivani- A Medical Boon (which kept alternating between a family social and a medical drama) will die out, this is how the end will come. Dr Rahul (Mihir Mishra) will be kidnapped by terrorists and taken to a jungle area. His love Dr Juhi (Gurdip Kohli)- in the serial of course, will venture out, have a confrontation with a Baba (the head of the terrorist gang) and get him back. Phew! For those still interested, the Baba has still not been cast. Sandhya in love Sandhya Mridul (Alyy Khan's ex-flame) has lost her heart again. There is a buzz that she is dating Gaurav Kapoor. She laughs and clarifies, "I am dating Gaurav Kapoor's friend Rajiv Gopalakrishnan- associate director of 'Phir Milenge' who is also writing some film scripts at the moment." Point noted, Ms Mridul. Arjun Punj returns While on Arjun Punj, well, the guy's set to come back on television with a Contiloe show. His film has got stalled for some reason. Is it one more case of a TV guy finding it difficult to get a foothold in bitchy Bollywood? Of course, Punj is open to other film offers. But the question is: Do our Bollywood producers and directors watch television? Are they willing to risk their money on telly faces? Sweta & Rupali's natak With so many telly actors being utilised on stage, here is another case. Sweta Keswani, Rupali Ganguly are set to do a play with Ashish Roy. The details are being worked out by Roy. One doesn't have to look far to hunt for the reason- an international market has opened up for TV artistes to perform on stage. Who wouldn't like to tap profit margins which are higher if TV actors are taken abroad, we mean, aboard?
