It's Parizaad Kolah Marshall's birthday today and she is all geared with a perennial smile on the lips and the occasional Parsi accent to bring in the third season of the Great Indian Laughter Challenge with a blast.
With her trademark trademark dimpled smile, she says, "From ramp walking to music videos to films to anchoring shows, I have done it all and I enjoy hosting the GILC."
Here' s a quick tete-e-tete with the pesky anchor.
Could you throw light on your early stages of work?
I was born and brought up in Mumbai. Since my college days, (H.R.College) I have participated in fashion shows and walked the ramp for reputed designers like Anita Dongre and Gayatri Khanna.
Are you a part of any other television programme besides GILC?
Yes. I also anchor Filmy Fever on Zoom.
Aren't you interested in acting?
I am interested in acting. I have done a theatre workshop with Nadira Babbar. I have also acted in Barjatiya's main Prem ki Deewani Hoon.
How about acting on tv serials?
Right now my hands are full with anchoring and am busy traveling for hosting
international events.
If and when time permits will you at in them. What would your forte be (the
saas-bahu kinda roles)?
Maybe in the future if time permits, I may take up serials. I would like to portray girl my age - young and vibrant. I would certainly avoid whitening the hair or playing character roles.
Is being a part for the third exciting?
Yes, of course it is. We three have a great chemistry on screen. Besides, this time I am not the only lady around - there are a female participants too.
What do you think about the female stand-up comediennes?
It requires real guts to enter a male-dominated show. I am glad women are coming forward to give a tough competition to the male bastion.
What are your interests besides anchoring?
Whenever I get some free time, I sketch and paint.
What's your style statement?
According to me, style is to carry oneself with confidence and wear whatever suits you.
And finally, what are your birthday plans?
Nothing formal. Today, I am going out with my husband and a couple of friends to celebrate. Tomorrow, it's going to be a family affair.
