He plays the leading man Chaitanya opposite Barkha Bisht in this Sahara One daily and has reportedly quoted it as 'one of my finest performances till date'. Prashant Golecha meets up with Amit, who after a long time span, discusses his career and personal life. Excerpts. You started with a bang with Kkusum and after Rishton Ki Dor you just disappeared. Comment That's because I am very choosy about my work. So what made you choose Doli Saja Ke? My character Chaitaniya is a very human character with a lot of values. He is rich but down to earth. My co-star Barkha Bisht is not only sweet but a good actress to work with. What is the real Amit Sareen like? I am a low profile individual who believes in spending time with family and friends. I take time to open up. I am flexible but a perfectionist. Any particular reason for lying low? My sensibilities don't allow me to do things out of context. I don't want unnecessary mileage by going to parties. When I am required I do go, I do party occasionally, but with people I am associated with. You played a meaty role of Sahil Virani in Kyunki. Why did you quit this TRP ruling show? A gen-leap was being brought in and I didn't want to play an older character at that point of time. Was the parting with Balaji amicable? Leaving Balaji is normally not amicable but in my case it was. It was an honest decision on my part and it was taken in the right spirit by the production house. Has Balaji offered you anything lately? They had approached me for a role in Kasamh Se. But things didn't work out. If they come up with an offer which appeals to me I will surely take it up. Tell us something about your personal life. It has been only six months since I got married. My wife Vineesha is an actor, she starred in the Uday Chopra film Supari. Right now she is writing three movie scripts and is also busy showcasing short films directed by her in the international market. If a good acting offer comes her way she will surely consider it. Any plans to start a family? Right now I am only focusing on my career. Having said that I would like to add that marriage is a great institution. I definitely recommend it. It has made me more focused, determined and inspired towards my goals. At one point of time even you were contemplating a filmi career. What happened? My journey is still very much on and I definitely want to do films. By God's grace I hope this wish will come true soon. Will that mean quitting television? I will cross the bridge when it comes. Any passions other than acting? I have been a trained dancer (jazz, classical and western) since six years. I am taking out time to polish my dancing, which has taken a backseat since last few years
