Read on… Rahul in Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat is a handsome man who gets married to a girl who isn’t good looking. Are you open to doing the same in real life? Real beauty is what sprouts from within. Outer beauty is however the first thing one notices on meeting a person. I want to marry someone who is beautiful from inside. Outer apperance matters to a little extent to me though. Can you identify with Rahul? Rahul is a chilled out dude kind of a guy. He is fun loving, caring and loves his family. I am quite like that in real life. So, I can identify with Rahul. Rahul’s best friend is Madhav. Who is your best friend in real life? My best friend is Ankit Goel. I have been friends with him since my school days. He is my neighbour in Bangalore. Please share a few words about Mitali Nag who will play your wife in the show. Mitali had replaced Kiran Khoje in the show. As per the plot, Rahul and Prerna (Mitali Nag) are now just talking about marriage. Maybe they will get married in future. Mitali is very down to earth and very comfortable to work with. She is a highly experienced actress. Her acting is very natural. Our chemistry came out very naturally in the mock shoot and is still continuing to be strong. You have played the male parallel lead in two consecutive shows- Chhal-Sheh Aur Maat and Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat. You have the looks and acting skills to play the lead character. So does that bother you? I just did a cameo for Chhal-Sheh Aur Maat. I accepted Rahul’s role on Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat as the character has been well etched out and has considerable footage despite being the parallel male lead. In fact, he has a major role in the show. Also its production house Shashi Sumeet Productions is a very prestigious production house. Your show is based on the fairy tale The Beauty and the Beast. What do you think of the fairy tale? I am in complete agreement with its concept that inner beauty is the true beauty. In our show Rahul, Madhav, Prerna and Aaradhya are all beautiful from inside. In the legendary fairy tale Beauty had fallen in love with the beast despite his outward appearance. That is what makes the fairy tale immortal. Rahul thinks of marrying Prerna on the show after she attempts suicide. Isn’t it regressive that a man decides to marry a girl after a suicide attempt? I disagree that a suicide attempt made him fall in love with her. Rahul had lost his mother at a very early age. He has always yearned for motherly love. He has just realised that Prerna loves him deeply. Looks is irrelevant to him while choosing a soul mate. He feels that when he marries Prerna the void in love that he felt since his childhood will be made up for. Your dream role is like… It is Ranbir Kapoor’s award winning role in Rockstar. The role which is the closest to your heart… It is Rahul’s character in Khoobsurat. We shot for the pilot episode in April last year. We had to wait for about nine months for the show to come on air. I was eagerly looking forward to essaying Rahul’s character in this show. In this serial, I have been able to make a mark for myself.
