My contract with Sony for now is over! Salman Khan

Salman Khan

He is undoubtedly the most ‘wanted’ star not only in Bollywood but also in the TV industry, what with his successful stint as host of Dus Ka Dum.

While speculation was rife about Khan doing the next season of DKD, another channel, Colors in this case, got him on board on Bigg Boss 4. His show will be pitted against Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati (which reportedly pushed the DKD schedule in the first place).

TellyChakkar caught up with the candid Khan.

Why did you take up Bigg Boss?
Because everyone loves it.

Have you seen the earlier seasons?
Yes, I have seen the earlier two seasons; it was fun watching them but this time I'll enjoy it more. Shilpa (Shetty) and Mr Bachchan have done a great job on the show. I hope I can match up to Shilpa!

You're going to handle the drama from outside. Do you think you could have done a better job inside?
I don't think I would have been able to handle things inside. So, I'd better be outside.

You've earlier said you won't favour those who play politics in the house…
I do not get politics so I do not even like the ones who indulge in it.

You have worked on both the small screen as well as the big screen. Which do you prefer more?
Both are good and eventually even the big screen lands up on the small screen. On the big screen you know the ones who will come to watch a movie will stay there because they have paid for it but on the small screen it gets tougher to keep your audience glued to that channel, that show as they have many more options in their hand.

Will you also be doing the next season of Dus ka Dum?
My contract with Sony for now is over but if they want me to do the show I will do it.

Supposing if the film industry is the Bigg Boss house, whom would you call the boss?
I am far from Bollywood though I am a part of it. So, I do not know who the big boss is. If we are taking about the competition then I like it healthy. And if it's about competing with oneself it is a lot better.

Name a few people you would love to be locked up with in a house?
Hmmm…well I cannot name some because if I name a few of them the others will be upset about it.

Who is the big boss of your life?
My dad.

You are one person who likes keeping his personal life far from media. How do you plan to host a show that does not have any privacy?
The show is not about my personal life. It is about the contestant's personal life. And till my personal life is not coming before the media I am fine with it.

Amitabh Bachchan and you have once again come together hosting two different shows. Do you think you can win the race?
We are two different personalities, we have our individual styles. In the first place there is no comparison between us as he is a very senior person. I am still a young boy.

In Dus Ka Dum you always said break toh banta hai boss what is your line going to be for Bigg Boss?
Break toh banta hai Big Boss.
