Ashiesh Roy was last seen in Zee Smile's Home Sweet Home and Fooltu Faltu. Though viewers didn't notice him much in these shows, Ashiesh decided to work harder and move on in life. Currently, the actor is on seventh heaven with shows like Johny Ala Re, Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi in hand and Star Plus's upcoming Ek Chabi Pados Mein. Apart from this, the Delhi bred actor who is as funny in real life as he is on-screen, also has some films lined up for release besides a couple of interesting plays. And somewhere between all this, he still manages to do adfilms, dub and even translate scripts of Hollywood projects. Kavita Shyam spoke to the talent pot Ashiesh Roy about his life and experience in the entertainment industry so far. How do you manage to do take up so many things at the same time? The trick lies in multi-tasking and the willingness to push oneself. Practically, everyone who matters is doing it. I believe Ekta Kapoor works round-the-clock, I personally know Shekhar Suman is forever at it, the indefatigable Mr.Bachchan does it and I want to test my own capabilities. A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. So, what did you do with so much free time in hand after Ravi Rai's Fultu Faltu went off air abruptly three months ago? Well, I could have sat at home and felt sorry for myself. But instead I utilised the opportunity to do some of the things I was missing out on because of my hectic shooting schedule. I translated some English films Cellular, Basic Instinct-2 and Gurinder Chaddha's The Mistress of Spices. I also kept myself busy with Robby Grewal's From Mumbai to Paris, caught up on my reading, made up with my girlfriend, watched loads of films, travelled, made new friends, and put on some weight. Now I'm back to work with a brand new play, a television show and a Bengali film. You have an interesting role in Star Plus's Ek Chabi Pados Mein, tell us about it? I play a serious role in the new Star Plus daily soap. Though at this stage, I cannot reveal much about the show, all I can say is that it's going to be very interesting. I was afraid that people had totally forgotten about my role in Banegi Apni Baat. And the only time I was nominated for an acting award was also for a serious character in Daayre. But everyday, I get half-a-dozen offers to do only comedy, and its so exasperating. . Tell us about your initial days as an actor? I belong to a Delhi theatre group called Act One which boasted of such dudes as Manoj Bajpayee, Ashish Vidyarthy, Shoojit Sircar, Piyush Mishra, Prashant Narayanan and Gajraj Rao. Dolly Thakore and the late Pearl Padumsee saw me performing a Vijay Dan Detha play Kenchuli, and insisted that I pack my bags and come to Bombay. What else is happening in terms of work? Workwise, I am quite happy with the films that I am getting. I enyoyed doing Jhankaar Beats. And l am also quite happy doing Paritossh Painter's English play See No Evil, Hear No Evil, in which I am essaying a triple role. Besides this Iqbal Khwaja's political satire Thank God Mere India Mein Aisa ahin Hota with Sachin Khedekar and Painter's Yeh Tedha Ghar Yeh Medha Ghar. I What about your personal life? I don't have time to devote to a serious relationship at the moment and, unfortunately, one can't multi-task in a relationship, though most men wish they could. Haven't you been lately linked to Nigaar Z. Khan? Nigaar and I in love? Ha! Ha! You should see us fight, you would think World War 3 is happening. She's one of the boys, that's all. I would never look at her romantically.
