Priya Bhatija’s professional life is on a song after she bagged the role of Rukmini and Laxmi in Dwarkadheesh. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of her personal life as she has just parted ways with her husband, actor Jatin Shah. For the first time after her break-up Priya talks about both her personal as well as her professional life. Excerpts from the interview. How did you bag a role in Dwarkadheesh? I went to the production house after which they called me for a look test. I gave 2-3 look tests after which I got selected to play the lead. It’s just that I gave my best shot. This is your first mythological show. How has the experience been till now? I have always experimented as an actor and have tried to be a part of different kind of shows, be it Khwahish, Kasamh Se or Basera. But working in Dwarkadheesh has been a different experience altogether. Everyday I have to wear a lot of heavy jewellery which makes me feel as if I am getting dressed to get married. You are away from home shooting at Vadodara. Are you lonely? It is very difficult to stay away from home but this is not the first time. I stayed in Dubai for almost a year during the shooting of Khwahish and the experience taught me how to deal with the feeling of being separated from home. Otherwise it would have been difficult to stay away from family and friends and shoot at Vadodara for Dwarkadheesh. Have you and Jatin (Shah) parted ways? I wouldn’t like to discuss much about my personal life but all I can say is that it’s been a while since I am single. Things were bad between Jatin and me, so we decided to part ways. I am not entering into a relationship anytime soon. So what went wrong? I don’t wish to elaborate on this. How is it working with Vishal Karwal? He is very sweet, professional and hard working. Since we are part of a mythological show, we have to use difficult Sanskrit words. So it takes lot of hard work to remember the words and pronounce them correctly. Can you share any interesting incident from the sets? The other day while I was washing my hands I noticed something coming out of the tap. I thought it was a little worm but it turned out to be a scorpion. I was petrified. Furthermore, once there was no electricity on the sets and a lizard crawled up on my leg. I was freaked out. My make-up dada recently said that he has seen a cobra in the make-up room. I am too scared after that and never roam around alone on the sets. Do we see you in a reality show in the future? I have been on Nach Baliye 4 and Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar and have learned that I am really bad at dancing. I will have to learn how to dance first before participating in any other dance reality show (laughs). Other than that I would like to participate in a travel based reality show.
