Hanif Hilal is no stranger to reality shows – especially dance-based ones. He and Pooja Bedi made their presence felt on Season 1 of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. However, although they were eliminated from the show in the first round itself, their equation lasted beyond the show. The duo then participated in Nach Baliye, another dance-based reality show, as a couple. Here, the pair lasted till Round 10 and Hanif got a chance to display his talent. This time on Jhalak… Hanif is paired with Gauhar with whom there is already a dispute. Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 1, Nach Baliye Season 3, and back again to Jhalak....why did you accept it again after having been eliminated early in your previous appearances? (bursts out laughing) Reason one is that that Jhalak is giving me a platform once again to showcase my talent and my creativity. Reason two is that this is where I began. That's why, in spite of being extremely focused about my movie career, I could not refuse Jhalak. Do you think you can make it to the finals this time? Have you identified any past mistakes that you will not repeat? Is there an action plan that you are implementing? See, Jhalak is a reality show and reality shows are all about attitude, personality, and what you ultimately present to the judges and the viewers. Having said that, I am focusing on better steps, better choreography, movements, and dance styles. I am trying my level best to turn in a fantastic show. Your dance partner is Gauhar. How is she as a dancer? She is a fabulous dancer. She has a lot of oomph and energy. She is one of the finest dancers that we have on television today. She is very expressive and has a very nice, creative mind. She comes up with suggestions that help me highlight her plus points as a dancer. So, does this lead to disagreements as well? Have there been some unpleasant moments? It really depends on the way you look at it. On my behalf, I can say that I go all out to make my artiste comfortable. I try my best to understand my artiste. If my artiste has suggestions and inputs, I always, I repeat, always incorporate them. But there is another side to this. Others may feel that Hanif did not do this in a certain way and something else could have been handled differently. But for my part, I believe in complete and total honesty, which involves letting go of ego hassles. If you want to experiment and create something beautiful, you have to let go of your ego.
