Define fashion? Fashion is about what looks good on you and how you carry it. I am someone who never follows trends. I opt for nice cuts and fabrics. As opposed to the common thought that spending a lot of money is fashion, I feel the other way round. John Abraham became a trend setter with a gunjee and jeans which is not expensive at all. Fashion for me is being simple and not aping others. Who chooses your clothes? I choose them myself. But I often take a second opinion from my husband Karnvir. He is really good with clothes. He always chooses nice clothes for me. Who can be a better person to suggest clothes for you than your husband who sees you daily? Do you like to accessorise yourself? I don’t wear many accessories. I wear only one piece of accessory at a time. For example if I am wearing an ear ring, I will not wear bangles at the same time. I like to keep it minimal as I feel wearing too many accessories diverts attention to the accessories instead of the face. I always carry a few basic ear rings in my bag. They are simple and they go with every outfit. Is there any particular brand that you prefer for clothes? I don’t spend much on clothes except for jeans. I prefer Guess for jeans. They fit well. What is your favourite destination for shopping? Canada. My family lives there. I visit Canada during the summer season. That is the time when there are summer sales on. I have bought some really good branded clothes at half the price from there. Which are the clothes that make you feel comfortable? Gunjee and jeans. Who is your favourite designer? Raghuvendra Rathore because his clothes are never over embellished. The best part about his creations is that he focuses on cuts and fits. A must have in your purse? I have a twig lipstick by MAC. It looks good on me and I am never without this lipstick. Even when I do fashion shows, I don’t let the make-up artists do my lips. What are the make-up products that you prefer? I like MAC because they have good products yet the prices are not too expensive compared to brands like Christian Dior and Estee Lauder. A fashion tip. Don’t try to impress others by dressing. Dress for yourself. Generally people dress thinking that their high heel shoes will be liked by every one or their dress will be talked about. That should not be the case. When you want to wear something that you like to wear, then you will feel comfortable and confident in it. A make- up tip. Don’t over do your make-up. Spare your skin. The climate in India is such that application of too much of make-up clogs the skin pores. Indians are blessed with a good skin, so we don’t even need to do much of make-up. Just a basic eye pencil, mascara and a lipstick works best for us.
