"I feast on one Marie biscuit before going to sleep" Amit Verma

A break from one's wearisome routine always serves as a welcome change, especially in case of your tireless TV stars. However if the so-called pause elongates beyond practicality, one does tend to get lethargic - mentally and physically. (And for the actors, merely sitting at home can prove too dear for their careers). Thus, it's important for one to remain healthy and fit.

Actor Amit Verma is certainly not one to rest on his laurels. Post the shutters-down to his last show on air, Kittu Sab Janti Hain, the actor has taken a sabbatical from work so as to knock off some extra kilos. After two months of sweating it out at a gym, Amit has not only managed to lose 10kgs but is well on his way to emulate his idol Salman Khan. The actor shares his weight losing experience with us. My fitness mantra: It's as simple as 'eat healthy and work out really hard'.

My exercise regime: I work out five days a week. My regime mainly involves weight training and cardio. However, on the fifth day, I concentrate only on the later. I maintain my training timing between 4-5 pm.

My diet: My trainer Ajay (Gold's Gym) has particularly asked me to be honest with my diet. I eat five meals a day. Of course, it has to be rich in proteins and carbs. However, my last meal should only comprise of proteins. For breakfast, I have eggs and three wheat breads with tea. Sometimes, oats are included in the list. As for my remaining meals, I'm required to have lots of pulses, dal, yoghurt, chicken and fish. I have chicken daily, as a matter of fact while I'm talking to you there's chicken on my plate. My refrigerator is stuffed with it.

My gymming tips: Life is to be enjoyed, so, don't let diet be the focus of your being. It's important for us to realise that there will be a time in our lives when we need to head for a gym. However, do only as much your body can resist. Never exert yourself as that will only do harm.

My sacrifices: I have a major sweet tooth. I simply miss my Toblerones, Dairy Milk, and especially the kaju katlis. However, my trainer has permitted me to have just one in a fortnight. For now, I feast on one Marie biscuit before going to sleep.

Managing work and workouts: Currently, I have all the time in the world to exercise. Once I start to work, I certainly will have to balance the two. My Man Friday delivers my food on the sets. In case he fails to turn up, I head to the nearest Subway.

Most chiseled frame in town: It has to be Salman Khan; he has a perfectly chiseled frame. I admire Hrithik Roshan too as he is good in some areas but Salmaan scores above everyone.
