Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns.
Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns. She is the self absorbed, fashion conscious teen who is every mother's nightmare...but again, as she emphasises time and again, it's not easy to be Tia Ahuja! Shweta Gulati, who rose to fame playing Tia in Star One's teen drama Remix is quite similar to that of her on screen persona - she's spendthrift and hasn't really saved for a rainy day! "I carry about 1500 to 2000/- rupees" In a tete-a-tete with Tellychakkar.com's Sameera Kapoor, she talks about money matters. Who looks after your finances? Since I end up spending most of my earnings, there is hardly anything left for savings as such. But otherwise it's my CA who looks after my finances. Don't you feel that you should save something for your future? Yes, now I do think I must be saving something. I realised how important saving was when I saw that my friends have bought apartments whilst I am still staying in a rented one. Have you made any kind of investments till date? Yes, I have invested in insurance policies. It was primarily because my friend works in an insurance company. On his insistence I bought them. Besides I too felt that it's a good thing to do. In the next 30 years, when I might not be in a position to work but still would like to lead a similar lifestyle, such policies will help provide me financial security. Have you ever thought of investing in stocks? Yes, my father has asked me to invest in stocks. But I am a little skeptical about getting involved in it since my dad lost huge amounts in the past! What about investing in real estates? For that to happen, first I need to have a house of my own. Till then it would sound foolish of me to be speaking about investing in real estate. "I possess around 40 pairs of shoes and around 20 varieties of perfumes." Where do you spend most of your income? I end up spending most of my income on clothes and partying. But I also spend a lot on perfumes and shoes - I possess around 40 pairs of shoes and around 20 varieties of perfumes. Are you an impulsive buyer? You can say that I am a compulsive buyer. But it's not like I buy anything and everything under the sun. Till date, I have never regretted anything which I bought even if it was bought on an impulse. So approximately how much do you end up spending on yourself, by the end of the month? Say, if I were to earn Rs 20,000 then I would end up spending something around 18,000. In other words, I spend almost three fourths of what I earn. So you can keep guessing… Do you own a car? Is it on loan? Yes, it's a Santro Zing. It's on loan. How much money do you carry on an every day basis? I carry about Rs 1500 to Rs 2000. What was the first thing you got hold of when you started earning? I brought a mobile phone from Siemens. The model was C35. Any particular thing that you have bought that's close to your heart. It has to be my new mobile phone motorazer. I just cannot do without my mobile phone.
