CortoKino 2016 day 2 ends with a bang

The 2nd day of the International Short Film Festival organized by the Mass Media department of Thakur College of Science & Commerce – CortoKino 2016, went amazingly well with 5 of the 10 events having been executed to perfection.

The various events included the ‘CortoKino event’ – the short film event consisting of the International entries received this year; the ’72 Hour Film Project’ wherein the filmmakers were to follow the prompts given by the CortoKino team and create a short film within 72 hours; ‘Muted Transgressions’ – the silent film event; ‘Mutinous Crescendo’ – the music video event aimed at bringing out the way one song changes people’s lives and how; and ‘The Ultimate Filmmaking Championship – UFC’ – which was the main attraction amongst the 10 events wherein one college challenged another college to a film-off in order to determine one The Ultimate Film-making Champion!

The celebrities that showed up to grace these intelligently-crafted events were, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, who was nominated for the Best Male Debut award at the Filmfares for his role in ‘Jimmy’ and who has featured in movies like ‘Haunted – 3D’ and the forthcoming ‘Ishqedarriyaan’; the cast and crew of the upcoming movie ‘Zubaan’ – Sarah Jane Dias, Ashutosh Pathak, and Vicky Kaushal with a special musical performance for CortoKino; Swati Sharma, singer of the song ‘Banno Tera Swagger’ from the movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’; A.M. Turaz, lyricist of songs like ‘Tera Zikr’, ‘Udi’ and ‘Kabhi Jo Badal Barse’ to name a few; and the cast and crew of the movie ‘Ankahee Baatein’ – Manish Raisinghan, Barkha Bisht and Manav Bhinder – the writer, editor and director of the movie.

The biggest factor in any festival is the audience, and the auditorium in which the screenings took place consisted of a highly diverse crowd. People had flown in from all over the country to view the films, and the response from the audience and the judges alike was overwhelming. Everyone enjoyed the films and the stimulation they provided to their minds. The judges seemed extremely pleased with the movies that were screened, both national and international, what with the festival having received over 1300 entries from 81 countries.

Overall, the 4th year of CortoKino went superbly and the theme of the festival ‘A World On Fire’ made the festival an even bigger hit.
