MAX2 remembers Shammi Kapoor on his birth anniversary

MAX2 India’s iconic Hindi movie channel honours the legendary ‘junglee’ actor on his 83th birth anniversary with ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ a film festival dedicated to the star on 21st October at 8pm. With its Diwali film festival titled ‘Filmon Ki Rangoli,’ the channel plans to showcase an interesting line-up of movies to celebrate the joyous festival of Diwali from 22nd – 24th October. Presenting Shammi Kapoor fans with a double movie treat on the 21st October, MAX2 will air 2 of the actor’s films namely ‘Teesri Manzil’ and ‘Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai’ at 8 and 11 pm respectively. The 1966 murder mystery thriller of ‘Teesri Manzil’ revolves around a woman (Asha Parekh) investigating the mysterious death of her sister with several people under the radar including the nightclub drummer Rocky (Shammi Kapoor) whom she falls in love with. The 1969 ‘Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai’ is about a desperate brother (Shammi Kapoor) who in his quest to get medical treatment for his sister, faces challenges when he his hired to subdue three-out-of control heiresses. The movie has legendary actors such as Babita Kapoor, Mehmood and Pran in pivotal roles. With Diwali commencing from 21st October onwards, MAX2 has carefully handpicked films that represent the spirit of joy and celebration that is synonymous with the festival of lights. From 22nd – 24th October, the channel will showcase films such as ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,’ ‘Gol Maal’, ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’, ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ to keep viewers entertained during the Diwali season. Commenting on the movie bonanza film festivals Neeraj Vyas, EVP & Business Head, MAX & MAX2 said, “Shammi Kapoor is a memorable actor whose films we have enjoyed over the years. To commemorate his birth anniversary, we decided to launch a film festival honouring the iconic star. We have also curated a Diwali film festival comprising a careful selection of films guaranteed to keep our viewers glued to their television sets over the long Diwali break.”
