As reported earlier, Weschool (Welingkar Institute of Management) organized the fifth year of an initiative titled ‘WE WISH YOU PEACE’ which was held yesterday (22 November 2013) as a tribute to the horrifying 26/11 terror attacks.

The event started with much pomp and flare, with the survivor of the attack Kia Scherr, Founder- One life Alliance and Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director-WeSchool addressing the event and the members of the organizing committee taking the oath of peace.

Speaking to her as to what prompted her to start this initiative, Kia said, “After my husband and daughter were killed in 26/11 attacks, I am determined to create the opposite of terrorism - to love like an extremist so that we can increase the power of peace in as many ways as possible. The time has come to join together as one. Together we can make a difference. I chose Welingkar and Welingkar chose me after I spoke to 200 students last year about my response to 26/11. The students came forward with so many creative ideas to increase peace around the city. I knew this would be an ongoing collaboration. This is just the beginning.”

In the spirit of spreading the message of peace, celebrities walked the ramp, showcasing the creations specially put together by a team of young designers, Nishka Lulla and Rajat Tangri- Riyaz Gangji.

The event proceeded to glittery fashion show which was anchored by Rochelle Maria Rao and TV/Radio host, Siddharth Kannan.

We had earlier written about how the fashion show would witness a host of Bollywood and television celebrities and the event stood true to its words.

Bollywood celebrities such as Aftab Shivdasani, Kunal Ganjawala, Karan Kundra, Hiten Tejwani, Sarah Jane Dias, Gurleen Grewal, Mansi Moghe and Srishti Rana expressed their contentment to associate with the event and appreciated the initiative as they walked the ramp.

Shedding some light on the occasion was Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director-WeSchool who expressed his viewpoint as to why Weschool chose to associate with One life Alliance. He averred, “WeSchool's core value "we link and care" has been our guiding principle. We strong believe initiatives such as "Global Peace Initiative" and Kia Scherr's mission to spread the message of peace can help unite people, communities and nations. It is indeed our privilege to support this cause and help spread the message of peace.”

The occasion hosted a number of events and culminated with an act on National integration by the Prince Dance group who depicted the colors of our national flag.
