Nagarjun - A 'Superb' Blend of Mythology and Fiction

Nagarjun Ek Yoddha

Beyond Dreams' latest offering Nagarjun Ek Yoddha on Life OK promised to churn out something out of the box on the television space. Last night (30 May) was a special day as its first episode went on air. And must say, it lived up to its expectations.

As promised, the series wonderfully blends mythology with fiction, a theme which has been missing from the small screen for a long period of time.

So how was the first look of the show? We at Tellychakkar.com bring to you a detailed piece about what one can expect from Nagarjun.

Drawing reference from the Indian epic Mahabharata, where Arjuna got married to the serpent prince Ulupi, the show seems to explore the untold tale of the great Epic. Naturally, it is advisable for the viewers of the daily to quickly google about the serpent clan of India to have a better understanding of the story.

Now, coming to the show, Nikitin Dheer in his debut venture on the small screen looks pretty impressive as the anti-hero. Nikitin essays the character of a serpent warrior, Astika, who is ready to sacrifice his own son for the betterment of the realm and to protect the interest of his king, Takshaka. On the contrary, Manish Wadhwa as Vasuki, the moral guide and protector of Arjun (Anshuman Malhotra), once again succeeds to live up to our expectations. So does Shruti Ulfat in her role as Arjun’s foster mother.

Apart from acting, what really makes this show an entertaining watch is the high octane action sequence. The action packed fighting sequence between Nikitin Dheer and Chetan Hansraj looks as captivating as any Bollywood film.

Another department which steals the show is the set designing team. Noted art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai for sure deserves a pat on his back for his marvellous creation. Interestingly, the design of Naglok might remind our viewers of the design of the library room from Noah Wyle’s film The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice.

Without disappointing us, cinematography and visual effects team have also done a commendable job.

On the whole Nagarjun looks quite promising except for a couple of melodramatic scenes where Arjun’s mother (Keerti Nagpure) curses her husband or parts from her son.

For all fantasy show lovers, Nagarjun is a must watch and those who are not quite fond of the genre but want to explore something different on the small screen, can give a try watching this newly launched series.
