Set in the British India, 'Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma' is a show about Zeenat (Urvashi Sharma) who chooses to fight for the freedom and emerges as a powerful woman and a role model during the era when women had no freedom to live or a sense of basic security.

The show begins with a scene where a community of women leave their homes in the darkest hour of the night to protest against the British rule. One among them is Zeenat, who along with her co-protestors makes noise to wake up the British official from his slumber. The annoyed official stays calm and rather than firing at the women, he asks his men to report this news to the media, which further gets printed in the newspapers. Abbas (Nasir), Zeenat’s husband, wakes up looking for his wife, who somehow manages to sneak into the house. He gets the newspaper and sees the photograph of the protest.

Her photo isn’t clearly seen, but her friend Sarla is clearly visible.

Soon, it is shown that police arrests Sarla, who was a vital part of the protest. Zeenat immediately leaves for Sarla's rescue and confronts the police officers. Zeenat finally bribes the Inspector and frees her. This is followed by a series of incidents which leaves Zeenat in a state unknown of her whereabouts. She wakes up at a house and questions about the same. The people present inform about her becoming a mother. She then meets Mahboob, a worker at the Mosque, who after knowing about Zeenat’s hardships provides her the stay assuring no trouble. She seeks help to find some work for herself. This leads to her meeting with Shekharan Shetty (Aman Verma). Impressed with her self-respect and dedication, Shekharan helps Zeenat and gives her work.

Besides these actors, the show also boasts of a well known star cast which includes supermodel-turned-actor Shahwar Ali (as Parvez – an upright lawyer), Nawab Shah (as Haider, a dreaded underworld don), Deepraj Rana (as Kabeer Lal, a shrewd and strategic, power-hungry don from the Middle East) and many more.

The plot of the show is interesting and the episodes keep the audience hooked to the story throughout the hour. Urvashi is seen as a very a dutiful wife, and a caring mother and a very rigid and strong woman as a fighter cum inspiration. Nasir comes across as a strong, high headed husband who only wants his wife to focus on the family and nothing else. Very less can be told about Aman’s character, due to his brief screen presence, however his emergence was impactful to the core. He has imbibed perfectly the look, feel and accent of a South Indian. Other characters in the show are interesting and add their value to the plot effectively.

So far, Zeenat comes across as one who is best at solving the most difficult problems and managing her home at the same time. Despite all her household and family problems, she takes out time for her nation. But will she be able to fight all odds, rise to power and carve a niche in the male dominated world? Will she be become the Godmother for millions? We believe that with her leadership abilities and ardour, she certainly will rise to the top. But how? Well, only time will tell.
