Big stars small screen- TV ka dum

All eyes are now on the next big star who will descend on the small screen -- Priyanka Chopra. The actress who has recently won accolades for her role in Fashion and is touted as one of the topmost heroines in Bollywood has stepped into the world of reality shows. She will be seen hosting season 3 of Khatron Ke Khiladi. So what is it that attracted her to television? At the launch of the show Chopra said that though she had no time for the small screen she agreed to do KKK as she had seen the show and enjoyed it. Unofficial reports say that the actress has been paid approx Rs 50 lakhs per episode for hosting the show. Mr Bachchan will once again return to Kaun Banega Crorepati, a show that not only changed the way we perceived quiz shows but also changed his fortunes. The actor who was last seen hosting Bigg Boss says he enjoys doing television because of its spontaneity. Season 4 of KBC is reportedly offering the actor close to Rs 1.5 crore per episode. The hot and handsome Salman Khan hosted Dus Ka Dum and will now host Bigg Boss 4. A coup of sorts for the channel for which obviously the actor has been paid an attractive amount! If unconfirmed sources are to be believed Khan has agreed to an average of Rs 1.5 crore per episode. He says he is on television because it’s pay-back time. Akshay Kumar has moved from outdoor to indoors…from adventure to the kitchen. After hosting two seasons of Khatron Ke Khiladi he will now host Master Chef. Insiders buzz that Akshay is reportedly getting anything between Rs 60-70 lakhs per episode of Master Chef. And just a few weeks ago we had superstar of the South R. Madhavan hosting Big Money. The show may have not got anywhere but the actor sure has made some good money. Almost every big actor of the big screen has tried their luck on the small screen… Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Rani Mukherjee. After having tasted success and fame on the big screen and of course lots of moolah, who couldn’t do with some more? After all a little money hasn’t hurt anyone. And with the channels falling all over each other to woo all of them…why wouldn’t they bite? Also with Bollywood stars realizing that they can earn bigger bucks from the small screen, in fact, sometimes even more than what they make from films the small screen is definitely a big draw. So they are all set to race from one broadcaster to another. After all its all about who has more dum. Channel surfing is for the viewers…channel switching is for the big actors who are making hay while the sun shines! Read more...
