MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar, who is often called as the 'God of Cricket' by his fans, shares a great camaraderie with Yuvraj Singh. We often see them indulging in fun banter on social media. In fact, the lockdown period saw the two challenging each other to do various fun tasks.

A day ago, Sachin shared a throwback picture on Instagram. It sees him posing with Yuvraj. Alongside the picture, he wrote a heartwarming note for him. “Yuvi, the first glimpse the got of you may have been in the Champions Trophy in 2000 but my first memory of you was during the Chennai camp. I couldn’t help but notice how athletic & deceptively quick you were at point. ‪What I also realised that you had a wonderful 6 hitting ability & it was evident you could clear any ground in the world with ease.  ‪We’ve shared so many memorable moments playing for India together and it was an absolute joy to have you as a teammate.

God Bless and keep inspiring the younger generation.” 

While replying to him, Yuvraj ended up revealing some of the interesting facts about their first meeting.  

“Thank you Master @sachintendulkar . This is probably the best message after my fan club messages I received today. I still remember when we first met and you shook my hand, I rubbed my hand all over my body and did not bathe that day. I also remember that I had your photo pasted in my kit and in Chennai when you sat next to me it was like you have exited the kit and taken a seat next to mine,” he wrote. 

The cricketer further added, “You have been a great mentor on and off the field. You were there to guide me in some of my toughest phases especially when I was bogged down with injuries and worried about my form before WC 2011.

You taught me to have a vision, to believe in my abilities.

I am determined to play the same role for the youngsters that you played for me when I was young. Our bond is priceless, I look forward to creating many more wonderful memories with you.”
