Gauri, my proud homemaker!

Hiten Tejwani
Moving to a new house is always exciting, right from packing and moving things to taking in the fresh coat of the paint in your new house. But one should never move in unless the house is completely ready and yes we shifted residence into a half-done house. The neatly packed bags were all in one room as the other rooms got ready for our arrival. To top it we had great movers and packers who took some 13 hours to pack our things. It begged me to think ‘Do we have so much to pack or were they slow in their job?’ But when you gotta do it, you gotta do it and so we packed off our twins to Pune and braced ourselves for moving into a bigger and new house. There were a hundred things to be done and we had to control our parental anxiety and get our hands dirtied with all the paint and cement flying around. Though the kids were away only for two weeks it seemed like they were away for 200 years as we got set to push the workers out of our house and get our babies back. Thanks to Gauri, we have a beautifully done up house. Yes, I am proud to say that! She’s turned the house into a home. While she did our earlier home too, with this she has surpassed herself. It was difficult leaving our first house considering it was the first we had moved in but we did it, rather Gauri did it single-handedly. With me away for my shootings, she was all alone getting things done and setting things right. Every morning, I would wonder how it would all get over but by evening I would return to a job well done. I am blessed to have Gauri in my life. It was difficult mostly for her to live without the babies especially when they are just six months old. But they are back now and we are settled as though we have lived here since years. Women are homemakers all the way. A big salute to them! Disclaimer: the views expressed in this column are those of the author and TellyChakkar does not necessarily subscribe to the same.
