Wake up and smell the coffee!

Raindrops falling on your roof, going tip tip tip on the asbestos parapet…slowly it gives way to a thunderous uproar. Open the window and the first breeze of fresh air woooshes right inside with the pristine white curtain -- a la Sanjay Leela Bhansali film -- flying away in frenzy as the first ray of dawn (or was it the 10th? How does it matter) crept in.

From below the pillow still snuggling in to the sheet, I peep out to catch the glimpse of divinity. It’s blurred, it’s foggy and I feel am walking in the clouds with lush trees extending their branches right up to my window, birds chirping, one even saying ‘hello’ to me this morning… But I have to get out of the bed and though the breeze caresses my face, wind blows through my long hair, I feel like Dimple Kapadia, the way she walked out of the ocean in Sagar. Hmmm, a beautiful rainy, balmy morning just when the aroma of freshly brewed filter coffee wafts through. So imagine this….khule baal…behti hawa…tip tip barasta paani…lalalalalala background music….udte parde…chirp chirp karti chidiya….subah ka waqt….garam garam coffee….perfect setting for romance. Just then there is a knock on the door and you open it expecting to see your knight in shining armour walk in and sweep you off your feet. But it’s the assistant director, Preeti breaking my reverie with “Ma’am get ready aapka close up lagaya hai”. So much for dreaming with eyes wide open! Though a part of the dream did come true…the tip tip paani was indeed dropping on the asbestos roof of my make up room and there was coffee (no freshly brewed filter but just instant ‘set’ ki coffee’). Alas, it was literally time to wake up and smell the coffee as a sorrow bhara scene in Uttaran awaited me!
