13th Indian Telly Awards: Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Drama)
They are the ones who improvise scenes with the lead actors. Their screen presence will only act as a catalyst to the drama and excitement already created in the storyline. This is the power that the supporting actors hold in any given sequence. And if the actress is present in a daily soap that is mainly based on drama quotient, then the histrionics of the lady will only enhance the sequence even more. At the 13th Indian Telly Awards, we salute such women who give power to the lead actors with their performances. Here’s a look at the deserving nominees. Vaishalee Thakkar as Damini Rajendra Bharati (Uttaran) She has been there in the long-running show from screen one, and has been a great performer. Her character of Damini, has been a strong woman and Vaishalee portrays the role so very well. The actress who has a vast experience in acting has done a great job over the years, and takes care of every minute detailing while portraying the various layers in Damini. Neelu Vaghela as Bhabo (Diya Aur Bati Hum) As Bhabho, she’s the strongest pillar in the show. She matches power with power and performance with performance when placed in any sequence with the lead actors. Neelu, we can say is tailor-made for the role, and has been doing a great job in this long-running show. Rajshree Thakur as Maharani Jayawanta Bai (Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap) A versatile actress, who can get into the skin of any given character, Rajshree has yet again proven that it’s the role and the performance that creates the growth curve for an actor. As Maharani Jayawanta, Rajshree has been doing a stellar job in the popular show. Shafaq Naaz as Kunti (Mahabharat) She’s young, vivacious and still learning the art. However, she has played the mature character of Kunti to the ‘T’, and has walked away with lots of appreciation. Three cheers to the lady!! Mihika Verma as Mihika Iyer (Ye Hai Mohabbatein) After being type-cast in negative roles, Mihika has successfully broken the shackles and come out of her past image with this role. She has so very elegantly carried this role of the positive sister to the female lead, who has her own major stake in the story line.
