Acting, competition, girls, dates and more...a fun conversation with Mishkat Varma

Mishkat Varma

The ever charming and good looking Mishkat Varma is creating a niche as the ‘cute boy-next-door’ on TV. Playing Kabir on Star Plus’ Nisha Aur Uske Cousins, the actor has found great fan following and love.

But with him becoming a barrier between Nisha (Aneri Vajani) and Viraj (Taher S M), we wondered if he had to ever bear the brunt of being the reason for the heart break.

Talking about this, Mishkat averred, “Not at all. I think I have been lucky with the way fans have accepted me and given me so much love. They have equally liked both the love stories and we have our separate audience, so no competition, no abuses and no hatred!”

When we questioned him on sticking to the chocolate boy avatar similar to his previous role of Raj (Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya), he said, “I don’t think there is any similarity or comparison between the two. Each has its own flavour and scope. But yes now I want to try something really exciting and different. I would love to play a good boy turned villain kind of a role.”

Since Mishkat’s sister Mihika Varma (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein) is also an actor, we asked him if the struggle has been easy for him. “Ghanta! I genuinely believe that if you have to make it big you should do it yourself. Losers talk about contacts and connections. Even Mihika is of the same view and thus we never cared about these things. We are very close as siblings but would never use that as a benefit.”

We then wondered, if not an actor what profession would have Mishkat chosen. “I would have been a beggar then! I have been a duffer in school and had no other aspirations. I guess all I ever wanted to do was act and thankfully I managed to live my dreams.”

A lot has been said about you being a ‘ladies man’; what is your take on the same? “What rubbish yaar...I have a lot of close friends who are girls, but nothing like that. We have all been like one big family for the longest of time. And which boy doesn’t like being clicked with good looking girls (winks).”

And finally we asked Mishkat to share one ‘fun date’ incident. “Well this was a hilarious incident where I was with my girlfriend in a restaurant. I was in no mood to share my food and started gorging. She got pretty upset but I asked her to ask for her dish separately. She got mad and whiffed, but thankfully she didn’t walk off. When I shared this with Mihika, she was like idiot, you are lucky she didn’t slap you. I have learnt my lessons now though.”
