Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon actress Shalmalee Desai adds another feather to her cap!

The pretty actress, known for her acting chops has turned a writer.

Shalmalee is penning screenplays for Shunya Productions. She is currently working on two projects, Colors’ Thapki and Star Plus’ upcoming show Nasthik.

Quite impressive, we must say.

Speaking more about her new talent, she says, “It’s been five months that I have been working with Shunya Productions. I have always loved reading and writing. In fact, acting happened by chance while writing has always been my first love. After marriage, I took a break and wanted to do something that I enjoy the most. Hence, Avinash (actor Avinash Sachdev) suggested that I write for TV shows. After giving it a thought, I contacted my good friend and producer of Shunya, Ved. I first did a course from Whistling Woods to get a hang of it and then started working with them.”

She adds, “I spend around five to six hours a day writing. I sit with my team and work on screenplays, which later goes to the director and channel. Once we get the approval, we go ahead with it.”

Now that she is into writing, we ask her if she keeps a tab on other TV shows and which were her favourites. She shares, “Yes, I do keep a tab on other shows. As a writer, you need to know what’s working and what’s not on TV. I really like Sony TV’s Beyhadh, Kuch Rang and Ek Duje. All the three shows are fresh and gripping.”

So will she come up with a script for hubby dear Avinash? “Yes, why not? It will be a brilliant idea. And I think Avinash can pull off any character.”

We also wished to know when she would be back to acting. “For now, I have no plans to comeback to acting.”

We couldn’t wrap up the candid chat without asking her about her plans of expanding her family, she states, “Well, there is still time…may be two years.”
