MUMBAI: Terence Lewis is a renowned Bollywood dancer and choreographer who specializes in 'Contemporary' dance style.

He has choreographed famous Bollywood films like Lagaan (2001), Jhankaar Beats (2003) and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013). Apart from this, he has also choreographed many musicals, stage shows, ads, music videos and participant teams in many national and international dance competitions. He also choreographed Disney India's first theatre production - Beauty and the Beast.

For the unversed, he has also starred in a music video for DJ Hot Remix Vol.3 called 'Badan Pe Sitare' (which was a remix of the original old song by Harry Anand).

He has also judged many Indian dance reality shows like Dance India Dance 1, 2 & 3 (2009–2012), Nach Baliye 5 (alongside actress Shilpa Shetty and film director Sajid Khan), Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati (alongside Shilpa Shetty and Farah Khan) and Chak Dhoom Dhoom. Currently, he is judging the ongoing dance reality show India's Best Dancer.

Other than these, Terence also runs his 'Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company' in Mumbai, wherein he organises dance workshops both in India and abroad.

However, Terence wasn't anywhere close to the world of glitz and glamour. 

Terence Lewis hails from a middle-class Mangalorean Catholic family and was raised in Mumbai. He is the youngest of eight siblings. 

Terence started dancing for the first time in his school - St. Theresa's Boys High School. As his family was financially unstable, he began training aerobics to women, in order to support his further education as he was academically a bright student as well.

He developed his liking for dance into his passion in his college days. Terence wanted to become an actor initially, however, he changed his mind thereafter and focussed solely on his dancing career.

Gradually, his passion led his way to New York, wherein he received formal training in western dance forms like jazz, ballet and contemporary dance at the dance academies therein, named the 'Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater' and the 'Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance'.

Right after that, he returned to India and secured his place in Bollywood as a choreographer by choreographing Bollywood movies like the Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan (2001), Sanjay Suri-Rahul Bose-Juhi Chawla starrer Jhankaar Beats (2003) and the Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013). For Lagaan's choreography, Terence won the 'American Choreography Award' in 2002, along with Ganesh Hedge, Vaibhavi Merchant, Saroj Khan and Raju Khan.

He went on choreographing many advertisements, music videos, stage shows, Indian and foreign dance groups, Broadway 
Westend musicals and feature films.

He became the first-ever Indian to represent our country on the platforms of Vienna and Austria and even received the 'danceWEB Europe Scholarship'.

After creating his hard-gripping reputation as a dancer in the industry, he's presently also a popular judge of various popular dance reality shows.
