MUMBAI: A few weeks ago, the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah confirmed the replacement of Disha Vakani on the show. The hunt to find a new face to play Dayaben has already begun. The actress has been missing from the popular show since September 2017.

As per the Times of India, Papad Pol actress Ami Trivedi has been approached to replace Disha.

Ami denied the news, but as per sources, the makers are considering her for the role. Ami said to a leading publication that she hasn’t been approached for the role, but her friends have been telling her that she should take up the role as it would suit her character.

Ami was asked if she would take up the role, to which she said that it’s a huge responsibility and that it would be difficult for any artist to fill the big boots of Disha Vakani. Any actor who would replace her would have to face the bricks and stones at the beginning because Disha has been associated with Taarak Mehta... for 10 long years and the audience love her. She can’t comment anything on the same until she is approached for the role, and once the makers reach out to her, she will be in a position to talk.

Disha has been on a maternity break for the past year and a half. This has prompted show's producer Asit Modi to lookout for a new Dayaben. As per a quote given to Bombay Times, the producer said that he will have to start looking out for a new Dayaben and that no one is bigger than the show. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will go on with a new face, because the family is incomplete without Dayaben.

The actress had tied the knot with Mumbai-based chartered accountant Mayur Padia in November 2015. The two are now living their life happily ever after with a new addition in the family: their baby girl, who was born in September, 2017.
