Amit Dolawat is happy to have bagged Star Plus’ Sasural Genda Phool recently. Not only is the actor thrilled about the show, but also because he is sharing screen space with Shruti Ulfat. Apparently, the actress and her husband Alok Ulfat have had a strong role to play in Amit’s career on TV.
Amit has always been a go-getter. So when Amit, the DJ, met the couple 11 years ago he agreed to help Alok in his workshops and plays and he also worked backstage and sometimes even on stage, in spite of having no interest in acting.
He was often asked to fill in for absentee actors during rehearsals and shows. As Amit tells us, “I usually recited dialogues for missing artists and in the process played around 25 characters. Though, Shruti and Alok both insisted that I take acting seriously, I wasn’t sure about it.”
He finally agreed to play characters in stage plays with them, but he did not stop deejaying. It was only after he bagged Star Plus’ Millie that he decided to take acting seriously.
Music still flows in his blood, despite being a full-fledged actor these days. He is totally at home in the music console, playing out some groovy tracks at the private parties of his close friends.
