MUMBAI: Television actor Navi Bhangu, who made his TV debut with Rajan Shahi’s Amrit Manthan, has signed a new Punjabi film.

According to exclusive information available to TellyChakkar, Navi, who has been missing from the limelight for a while, is prepping for his Punjabi flick. The Suryaputra Karn actor’s upcoming film is titled Saahib. This will also be his debut in regional cinema.

The story is an innovative amalgam of religious drama and romance. Navi will essay the lead character of a sardar. Joining him would be popular Punjabi stars Yograj Singh and Nirmal Rishi. For the uninitiated, Yograj is popular Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father, while Nirmal is an extremely popular actress. Both veteran actors play pivotal roles in the narrative.

The movie is directed by Pritpal Singh Honey, who has directed several films in Punjabi cinema.

The movie is likely to go on floors by September.

The female lead hasn’t been finalized yet. Apparently, there would be two actresses in the project. ‘Out of the two, one will be a foreign actress,’ a little birdie added.

When contacted, Navi said, ‘It’s like a dream project. I’m quite excited about it. Since I’m Punjabi, doing a Punjabi film is really exciting for me.’

He further added, ‘The character is something really different. It is something for which a lot of hard work needs to be put in.’

Navi also added that he is waiting for the right project to pick for TV.
