Animal Planet launches its new show, Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors

Wildlife Warriors
Australia Zoo – home of Crocodile Hunter and original Wildlife Warrior, Steve Irwin – is the backdrop of Animal Planet’s latest series Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors. But the Zoo is more than just a place of interest and recreation in Queensland, Australia. In this 26-episode series, the program showcases the fabulous work of the dedicated team at the Zoo led by the Irwin family – Bindi, Robert and Terri Irwin – as they go through their less than average day-to-day lives in and around it. Be it a tiger tooth extraction, a koala that’s been hit by a car or tracking a crocodile in the wild, these Wildlife Warriors are taking Steve’s relentless fight for the preservation of wildlife to the next generation. At the heart of Australia Zoo is a passionate and inspiring team, unified by their love of animals, which carries forward the late Steve Irwin’s amazing legacy for wildlife conservation and welfare. Capturing every rescue, every operation and every animal saved on film; not to mention the myriad of weird, wonderful and downright bizarre things that occur within the Australia Zoo every single day of the year, the show highlights to the world the pioneering work of the Australia Zoo and its committed staff. Meet Australia Zoo’s core team of leaders from key departments at the top of their game who through the show, demonstrate their passion as wildlife conservationists, environmentalists, and naturalists as they set new benchmarks for the protection of the world's environment and humanity. Meet program development manager Laurie and learn from his Africa program, visit Cameron the artist as he crafts an amazing sculpture, spend time with veterinarian Amber and witness the world-leading hospital she runs before hanging out with tiger supervisor Giles while he mates two endangered tigers. Also there to reinforce the Irwin legacy through their presence in each episode is the late Steve Irwin’s family – 14 year old daughter Bindi, nine year old son Robert and wife Terri Irwin. The series also ventures outside the Zoo walls to document more wildlife conservation work done by the Australia Zoo staff and the Irwin family. Whether it’s the Weipa crocodile expedition or a trip to the research centre at Wynton to take in some dinosaur fossils with Robert, these trips will give us the ability for breadth in the storytelling and emphasize the groundbreaking conservation work being carried out. While Steve’s legacy sets the footprints for a momentous movement, it’s truly up to the next generation to take up the fight to save our wildlife and move others to make their mark. The show premiers on 16 September and will air every Monday to Friday at 9 pm.
