Star Plus is all set to launch a new show which will be a remake of the popular long-running Bengali series Maa. K. Venkatesh Productions – the maker of the original Bengali series – is producing the show. A source tells us, “The production house has shot a pilot episode of the Hindi remake and is waiting for the channel’s nod. The story is about a mother-child relationship. The cast includes names like Sayantani Ghosh, Jatin Shah, Neena Kulkarni, and Supriya Shukla. Apparently the child protagonist who is named Jhilmil will be played by Avneet. Maa is one of the longest running and highest-rated shows on Star Jalsa.” Supriya Shukla confirmed, “For the first time in my life I have shot for any pilot episode. It was good to know that the concept of shooting pilots is there in television. I shot for the character called Aarti which is very different from the previous characters that I have played. I shot with Sayantani and Jatin and it was a very nice experience. My character is that of a mother and though it was a pilot episode, the scale of the shooting was quite huge.”
