Ratna Sinha, producer of Sony’s Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na roped in director Ismail Umar Khan, who has 360 successful episodes of Zee’s Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. The original director Maqbool couldn’t continue with the show as he was busy with editing and post-production of Kabootar, a movie produced by Ratna Sinha’s husband.

When contacted Ratna Sinha said, “Both Maqbool and Ismail are close friends. Maqbool is associated with me from the initial stages of Babul Ka Aangann.. We have been working together since the past two and a half months. But he had to give time to Kabootar that he is directing for my husband. With a daily it becomes nearly impossible to take out time so he decided concentrate on movie.”

Talking about the new director Ismail, Ratna says, “Ismail has directed Chi and Me for me. He is a very good human being and a great director.”

Now that a hit director has joined the show have her expectations risen? The producer says, “The response to the show has been very positive and Maqbool has done a brilliant job so far. But the expectations keep rising as its all about rating and TRPs. I am hoping that the good work will continue.”

Maqbool Khan says, “I had a song to shoot for my debut movie as a director. Also some post-production and mixing was left to be done so I had to leave the show. It’s been more three weeks now that I had left the show. Co-incidentally I left the show when Aastha, lead of the show left her father’s house after getting married. Ismail is a very good director. His specialty is his grip on emotions.”

Talking about his possible comeback, Maqbool informs, “Ratna, is a very dear friend and keeps insisting that I comeback with the show after two months. So let’s see if I can take out time as I am planning to start working on another movie-script. But I will try taking out time and would direct the show as and when I get time.”

Ismail, who is directing Babul Ka Aangann since the 3rd of March says, “I am very happy to get back with Ratna who is a great producer and a dear friend. She wanted me to direct the show from the start but I was busy with Zee’s Dulhann. I left Dulhann to direct Santaan as it was lagging way behind in terms of bank of episodes.”

“Now that I have taken up the direction of Babul I will try my best to meet up with the expectations of the producer, cast, crew and the viewers,” adds the new director.
