The cult comedy show on SAB TV, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah by Neela Telefilms that’s achieved enormous success over the years, has completed 2000 episodes today (August 11).

After a hard day’s work, people tune into Taarak Mehta to forget their worries. The makers educate masses by showcasing everyday issues in a humorous and practical way.

This sitcom has been engaging audiences for over a decade now and it continuous to be the number one show on SAB TV, despite many newer shows popping up.

On this special day, the cast and crew of Taarak Mehta would together with their families watch one hour special episode on the sets. Also, the team is planning to decorate the sets with balloons for the special occasion.

Tellychakkar.com spoke to Disha Vakani, better known as Daya, who shared, “It feels really nice to be a part of the show. Eight years have gone by and we did not even realise it; we have become a big happy family here. There’s just something else about working with the team here, a different type of humour is created while we work together and coordinate with one another.”

She continued, “Like when Sridevi won her National Award for Chandni, she had mentioned that it was not just her award and that she could only win it because of her team. Similarly, our show’s success also is due to all the hands coming together in making the show. The team we have here, right from the spot boys, writers, producers to artistes and even the audiences’ love is responsible for our success. The love has grown slowly over the years. People love us, love the characters we play, and recognise us where ever we go.”

Shailesh Lodha, who plays the role of Taarak Mehta, said, “I am happy that we are not doing below the belt comedy and educating masses via smiles and laughter. Many shows achieve milestones, but Taarak Mehta has made history. It is the show that people will remember for life.”
