Ekta Kapoor always has the penchant of picking actors who completely justify the roles given to them. And this drive in the experienced Producer has made her choose a very talented theatre personality Faisal Rashid as one of the leads, in her upcoming show on Zee TV, Kumkum Bhagya.
Giving you a brief introduction about Faisal, the guy who is a graduate of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune started his career in theatre in the year 2005 with the veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. He has been a very known face in the plays of Motley’s Productions including Antigone, The Caine Mutiny Court Martial and By George. His body of work in films include Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s My Friend Pinto amongst others. He also awaits the release of his two films, Mohalla Assi directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi and Ramesh Sippy’s Sonali Cable. On TV, Faisal has starred in Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Upanishad Ganga, aired on Doordarshan. He was also seen in YRF’s Rishta.com on Sony TV where he played elder brother to the lead Kavi Shastri.
As we know, Kumkum Bhagya will revolve around a women-centric family. Sriti Jha and Shabbir Ahluwalia have been roped in to play leads, while Supriya Shukla who was earlier seen in Balaji Telefilms’ Tere Liye will play mother to the female protagonists.
We tried calling Faisal, but could not reach him even after repeated attempts.
Ekta Kapoor’s Kumkum Bhagya will take the slot of 9 PM, replacing Pavitra Rishta, which will now move to the early evening slot of 6.30 PM.
