MUMBAI :  Anupamaa fame Alpana Buch is an Indian television actress who has been part of the acting industry for three decades now. She has been part of shows like Saraswatichandra, Baal Veer, Papad Pol. Apart from this, she has also worked in the Gujarati film industry.

Recently, she has once again gained immense popularity with her role as Leela Shah aka Baa on the top show Anupamaa.  The audience loved her work as Leela.

According to the current plot of the show, Baa is not happy with Anupama’s involvement in the rape case because she is afraid of the goons who are behind their life. The goons start targeting Pakhi and kidnap her. This leaves everyone in the family shocked. Baa goes to the Kapadia house and causes chaos, since it is because of Anupama that Pakhi’s life is in danger.

Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actress and got to know interesting insights about how she feels about the track and her character.

What are your thoughts on the current track of the show which focuses on Dimple and the horrifying incident?

“This is something that should not take place at all. It is even happening in metropolitan cities where supposedly the women are safe. When women come from different places to such big cities to pursue a job, their dreams and something like that happens, how is one supposed to survive in this society then? If we think closely, these types of events have been going on since the time of Mahabharat. It happened with Draupadi even with all the family members being present there. This is going on till now and there is no end to this. This is just for the sake of saying that the situation has become better but this is something that is still there and will always be.”

On one hand, Baa does not want Anupama to fight as she fears it might backfire while Anupama wishes to fight for justice. As Alpana, what is your take on the situation? 

“An event like this has not happened with our family, fortunately. We are living in a much secure family and society. So I cannot react because I cannot completely understand the problem. If such goons create a ruckus in our daughter’s lives, then we are bound to feel scared. We can’t say if we should fight or stay quiet about it until and unless we are in that situation. “

What can we expect more from Leela in the future?

“One possibility is that if Dimple continues to stay in our lives, then it would be difficult for me. I will react to it and fight against it. I will have the take that it is alright till you’re helping someone but how can you let someone stay at your place and also then give her a job? That is not possible practically. The family matters the most for Baa. She has complete sympathy for such women who have had such unfortunate events in their lives but she cannot be okay with the fact that you make someone stay with you.”
