She began portraying Reeva Noon in the web series Dil Hi Toh Hai in 2018, which was created by Ekta Kapoor and first aired on Sony Entertainment Television. She appeared in the Ekta Kapoor production Bang Baang in 2021 as Monisha.

Further, she played Sana Shaikh in ZEE5's Qubool Hai 2.0, which also starred Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover. She is all set to play the role of Keerti in the show, Pyaar Ke Saat Vachan Dharampatni’. The show also stars, Fahmaan Khan, Kritika Yadav and Akash Jagga in pivotal roles.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about her character, the new show, and more.

You are embarking on a new journey, what can you tell us about your character?

Keerti’s character is of a very fierce and independent girl. She knows what she wants in life and she’s out there to get it. She’s always there to help and care for others because of which she volunteers in the NGO everyday and is looking for new adventures everyday. She also explores them. She wants to leave her dad’s law firm and start a school for the underprivileged, so her agenda has always been to help other people and that’s been her priority from the start. Ravi’s priority has been Keerti and helping Keerti.

Is there any similarity between you and the character, especially when you first heard about the character?

When they first told me about Keerti, I told them change the name and keep it Gurpreet because she is way too similar to who I am. She’s always laughing, she’s always there. She doesn’t say much but she has her own way of saying things, which is very close to the person I am because I am not very expressive. It is very strange for people, because I give off a different vibe and Keerti is like that, she doesn’t say much but she understands a lot. Especially with Ravi, she knows everything but she waits for him to take the lead.

When you choose a role how much effort do you put in choosing them, for the fear of not being stereotyped?

I personally feel that being stereotyped is very easy and especially with the way I am and the way I look, I have been put into a ceratin category many a times. It can be difficult to break that or to try something new can also be very challenging and because of the audiences acceptance. You think twice or thrice before picking a role. But thankfully, this show offers a new light because I did not want to do what I had been doing for a little while, and because you as an actor, you want to break the monotony at a certain level.

Dharampatni starts to air on 28th of November on Colors and stars Fahmaan Khan, Kritika Yadav, Akash Jagga and Gurpreet Bedi in lead roles.
