Playing a grey shade character is quite challenging for Manraj, but he is nailing it like a pro.

TellyChakkar got in touch with Manraj who revealed some exciting details on Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 and much more. Read on.

A different role and challenges...

It is very different from the previous roles I have done. My role is negative but not out-and-out negative, which I played in Kaleerein. That was a complete dark character. Here, he is a smart, educated boy who is a rich brat. Shubham is completely opposite to Ram. He has grey shades in his character. Shubham is only concerned about himself and is very insensitive.

It is very challenging as I can't be the same with everyone. I have to portray different emotions with everyone in the show. To be someone who thinks different, talks different, and feels different is very difficult. However, I really enjoy doing this.

From theatre to the small screen...

The journey has been great. I completed my first year in theatre and my first show was Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai on Sony Pal. This was a Balaji show and they gave me a break coming from the theatre. I was also doing a part-time job and used to also go for auditions. I got a call for an audition and I went there all decked up in a suit. I gave the look test and got selected that time itself. I was asked to start the shooting immediately. I played parallel lead there. My journey started from there, and here I am today.

Choosing spirituality over religion...

I started to realise the difference between spirituality and religion from a very young age. I don't believe in rituals and the outcome of performing them. I have a lot of respect for those who believe in religion and everything. But I think the other way round. I don't think that if I am not being religious or do not obey the rituals, God won't listen to me. I feel humans are connected in some way or the other and that's how things work. There is some energy in the world that helps us connect. One should have a clean heart.

Manraj also gave a special mention to casting director Priyanka Salunke Anjarlekar who gave him a chance for this show.

On the work front, Manraj has done shows like Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai, Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai, Romil & Jugal, Qayamat Ki Raat, and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya among others.
