MUMBAI: Popular TV actress Pankhuri Awasthy who was away from the small screens for quite some time is now gearing up for a new show.

The actress has bagged the lead role in Star Bharat's upcoming show Gud Se Meetha Ishq.

Pankhuri will be seen playing the role of Kaju in the show.

Gud Se Meetha Ishq also stars Ishaan Dhawan and Meera Deosthale in the lead roles.

As the show's launch date is inching closer, TellyChakkar had a chance to exclusively interact with Pankhuri who spoke about the show and much more.

What were your thoughts before agreeing to this show?

When I was narrated the character Kaju who hails from Uttarakhand and is a tour guide, it seemed like a very unique sort of role. I have never seen anybody playing a female tour guide on-screen. I thought it is quite different and it represents the whole culture of hills, and the mountains and it was a very unique vibe. A tour guide is a male-dominated profession but Kaju fights this and makes a livelihood for herself.

How similar is Kaju's character to you in real life?

I do relate to my character at some level. Kaju has dreams of her own. She has a bubbly personality. So, I can relate to those things. The idea of going behind your dreams and trying to achieve them and fighting against society is also quite relatable to me.

What kind of preparations did you do for the role?

My character Kaju hails from Uttarakhand, there is a way the people here talk. The 'Pahadis' talk in a different way. That is one major preparation I did for my role. I incorporated that tone in my dialogues. It was a little bit of a challenge for me. I also interacted with the local people there.  

Gud Se Meetha Ishq will be airing from 18th April onwards on Star Bharat at 7.30 PM.
