Exclusive! People from the television industry try to belittle it despite having gained popularity from television shows itself: Urvashi Dholakia

Renowned actress Urvashi Dholakia talks about Naagin 6, working with Balaji, and more.
Urvashi Dholakia

MUMBAI : Talented thespian Urvashi Dholakia is one of the actresses who has impressed the masses by playing varied roles on the small screen. The actress is still recalled for character portrayal of Komolika in Kasauti Zindagi Ki.

She made her fiction comeback on TV after four years, post Chandrakanta - Ek Mayavi Prem Katha, with Ekta Kapoor’s superhit supernatural franchise Naagin 6, which airs on Colors. Urvashi plays a glamorous and doting mother.

TellyChakkar got in touch with Urvashi and asked how it feels working in Naagin after 2 years of the pandemic?

“The pandemic didn't really affect me much, so it wasn't a drastic change for me. I also feel it shouldn't bother me.”

What's your thought behind not taking up back-to-back show? And how does it feel working with Balaji again?

“It happened because nothing really exciting was coming to me. There were times when there were no offers. When there were, the role didn't excite me enough. And Balaji is like a second home for me. I've spent half of my life working with them.”

How is your experience of shooting for a supernatural show?

“I've done Chandrakanta before this, so I'm pretty used to it. In fact, Chandrakanta was in the fantasy genre with graphics, but Naagin has its own storybase and is not just a fantasy show. It's nothing different for me.”

Actors from your era are getting a chance to bag lead roles now, so do you look out for that as well?

“I never looked out for a lead role in the past, so why would I now? I've always made my character larger than life, so not being the lead doesn't bother me. As an actor, I've just moved along with time. Whether I'm the lead or not, I've always been considered in that bracket.”

Do you think there is good content on television?

“Yes, that's why it still exists. People from the television industry try to belittle it despite having gained popularity from television shows itself. I feel that's completely wrong. Even though OTT is emerging, television shows are still running, and that proves that they keep evolving as well.”

Well said, Urvashi!
