A page from the personal diary of Gurucharan Singh The audiences have seen me as Roshan Singh Sodhi in SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmaha but very few know me as Gurucharan Singh, which is my real name. I am very happy to be getting good response from the audiences. I have struggled a lot; all thanks to the Almighty, my efforts have paid of well. It is my faith in God that I have succeeded. In July 2009, when I was struggling, I was offered this role, which has made me a household name today. The show has a huge fan base and people regularly visit the sets. And I feel overwhelmed with the kind of love fans shower on me. Many of them who reside out of the country constantly opine that my character should be there in every episode. In fact, some time back my mother received her bit of stardom. My mother, who stays in Patiala, had gone to purchase vegetables. Incidentally, there she happened to reveal that her son (referring to me) plays Sodhi in Taarak Mehta…, immediately the people present there started clicking pictures with her saying that we are posing with Sodhi’s mother. For me, this incident was quite heart warming. I am immensely grateful to Asitji (Asit Modi) for giving me this role. We all are like family and enjoy shooting together. Dilip Joshi is one of the most senior actors in the show and we all get a lot to learn from him. I am extremely happy with this series and wouldn’t take up any other show. May be later on, I would shift my attention towards movies or take part in a reality show. I am very similar to my character but there is one major difference. While Sodhi is happily married, I am still a bachelor. My mother has been trying to find a girl for me and hopefully by January 2013, I will settle down. I want a spiritual, lovable, friendly lady as my life partner; most importantly she should be a good human being.
