Here's the list of TV couples who secretly tied the knot despite their family's disapproval

Read to know about telly couples who are now happily married to each other, but long time back, they had to elope away to get married as their families had disapproved their relationships.

MUMBAI: As believed, when we meet our soulmate,  love knows no boundaries as we defy all limits to stick together with each other forever. These limits also include family-based oppositions on various grounds.

Owing to age-old Indian customs, traditions, superstitions and values, generation-gap issues pop-up at various levels, most importantly when newbies in love decide to tie the knot despite their background or other differences.  

To note, the situation is pretty much the same for our adored real-life television couples. Despite facing initial level authoritative rejections, they too stood by their lovers and finally got hitched soulfully. Adding some twist to their situations is the role of 'time', who's believed to heal old wounds. This indicates that despite facing hurdles in marriage, their families later accepted these couples whole-heartedly and showered their immense blessings on them, such that the duo could also enjoy their 'happily-ever-after' moment.

Let us take a note of such couples who overcame their initial marital hurdles over time and are enjoying a great family time currently.

1. Sudha Chandran-Ravi Dang

Actress Sudha Chandran, who was lately seen in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, had to elope with her husband Ravi Dang to get married. Amid her turbulent life, Sudha met associate director Ravi Dang on the sets of her film and it was never a 'love at first sight' for this duo. Over time, the actress fell for his honesty, professionalism, sense of dignity and his habit of not talking to many people. Things started brewing amid them when she started meeting his family members and bonded with them well. However, it was Sudha's mother who opposed to their relationship owing to alternative professional and cultural preferences.

Despite their secret marriage, Sudha was determined to seek her mothers' blessings for the same, which she eventually did receive over sometime as Sudha's family accepted their alliance. Now the couple is happily married to each other for over 25 years now. 

2. Karan Singh Grover-Bipasha Basu

Telly world's heart-throb Karan Singh Grover married actress Bipasha Basu on 30th April 2016. Post getting divorced from Jennifer Winget, Karan and the Dhoom 2 actress Bipasha were dating each other for quite sometime. When the duo finally decided to tie the knot, they faced a  major hurdle from Karan's side as his mother, Deepa Singh, was not willing to accept Bipasha as her son's third wife as she had revealed displeasure on Bipasha's former relationships with Dino Morea, John Abraham and Harman Baweja. Reportedly, she had even threatened the Hate Story 3 actor of cutting-off all ties with him if he married the actress. Even Bipasha's family raised objections towards her marriage with Karan. However, both the parties gave up their personal differences and whole-heartedly accepted their marriage. The duo's a happy couple and are deeply in love with each other for over 6 years now.

3. Rakshanda Khan-Sachin Tyagi

The duo met each other for the first time at latter's rehearsals as Sachin Tyagi used to be a pretty good singer and used to perform stage-shows and they fell in love at first sight. After dating each other for over years, they decided to get hitched. However, objections were raised from both the parties as Sachin hailed from a Hindu family of Uttar Pradesh, while Rakshanda was a Muslim girl from Mumbai. Owing to their religious differences and the fact that Sachin had two kids from his first marriage already, they faced troubles in their marriage. 

However later, the duo got both the parties convinced in the favour of their alliance and the duo is also blessed with a daughter. In a throwback interview, Rakshanda was jokingly quoted saying, “The story is quite simple. There was a handsome boy, and a pretty girl. Both of them met and their parents said- 'Ye shaadi nahi ho sakti'. And then the two got married anyways and happily lived ever after”.

4. Kashmera Shah-Krushna Abhishek

This telly duo's love-story was a hell of a ride. Kashmera met Krushna t a very crucial point in her professional life. Her divorce with her first husband Brad paved way for her new chemistry with Krushna as latter turned into her backbone during her crucial moments. Their mutual bonding overlook the fact that Kashmera was 0 years older to Krushna. Krushna had proposed to Kashmera on the sets of the dancing reality show Nach Baliye. 

However, what shocked everyone was the revelation of Kashmera-Krushna's secret marriage since June 2013. Reportedly, the duo had got hitched in Vegas in the same place where Kashmera had married Brad. 

The families were not happy with their relationship and were initially dead-against their alliance. However over-time, they finally supported the couple's alliance and the duo had a traditional wedding in the presence of their families and friends.

5. Archana Puran Singh-Parmeet Sethi

The Kapil Sharma Show's active judge Archana Puran Singh also underwent major hurdles in her love-life. Initially, when Archana met Parmeet for the first time at a party, she had no plans of marriage owing to an already failed marriage. However, the duo fell for each other and maintained a live-in relationship before settling down for marriage. 

While their families and society had questioned their relationship due to the age and career difference, Archana had to elope with Parmeet for tying the knot with him. Later, as they stood strong together before all odds, they were eventually accepted as a couple by their families. The duo is also blessed with 2 sons - Aryamann and Ayushmaan.
