Now, the actor has been away from the world of television for quite some time now. But it’s not that he is complaining or something, he has made quality use of his free time. He has written some awesome soul-stirring poems and launched his book (Juhi Chawla launched it), Mumbai, Mohabbat Aur Tanhayee, on 31 January 2012. “It’s a collection of poems that I have weaved over 15 years. It’s 176 pages of absolute melody, rhyme and rhythm. I started writing long back and finally with the support and love of my friends and well-wishers, I launched my first book. And the response has been amazing and very overwhelming. I am thankful to everyone,” says Rajeev with a big grin on his lips. Furthermore, he goes on to share that many think that when an actor remains out of work, he or she takes up painting, writing, or any other hobby to pass time. But with him the case is different. “I have always loved writing and I have been penning down my thoughts for years now. It’s not that I did not have work so thought chalo writer ban jate hain. This is a medium of expression that is really close to my heart,” he shares. In his personal life, he has been going through a rough patch. His 17 year long relationship with Delnaaz Irani has hit a deadlock and they have decided to part ways. And poetry is often a means to let out inner deep emotions. So is there an autobiographical touch in his poems? “I started to write these poems long before I started to have problems in my relationship. But yes, Delnaaz will always be a special person in my life and I want to dedicate this collection to her, my mom and my dad. They are the three most important people in my life,” says he. That is really sweet, Rajeev. And what about getting back on television? “2010 and 2011 were really bad for me. 2012 has started on a good note and soon I will be back on television. There are offers in the pipeline and hopefully something will materialise soon,” he informs. Finally, he shares this with his fans, “My books are available all across the country on all renowned bookstores and railway stations. Grab a copy and enjoy it. If you don’t like it then give back the book and I will be happy to refund the money. And Valentine’s Day is round the corner and I think the best way to profess love is to gift a book of poems. Trust me, it will create magic.” We do trust you, Rajeev…have a rocking 2012!!!
