I don’t want to be part of anything regressive on TV: Supriya Pilgaonkar

Supriya Pilgaonkar

Veteran actress Supriya Pilgaonkar, who shot to fame with shows like Tu Tu Main Main, Sasural Genda Phool, Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls and Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi...Meri Bhabhi, is playing a new-age mother in her latest project Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi on Sony TV.

Talking to Tellychakkar.com, she shared, “Kuch Rang...is a great show and we have an amazing bonding. The journey is beautiful because we are satisfied with the creatives and scripts.”

When asked to comment on the  current trend of supernatural tracks, the actress replied, “Frankly speaking, why would anybody watch such kind of shows? I have never watched it. I don’t even want to be part of anything regressive on TV. I am thankful to Sony TV and Yash and Mamta Patnaik (Kuch Rang - Producer) for not following the same path. Our show can never have such drama but if that happens, I would not continue working on it. I choose shows that are relatable. Even if the shows don’t do great, I give my 100 percent to it."

We asked her if she had seen any of Shaheer Sheikh's show, considering that he is a fan of the actress..." I have watched Mahabharat. I watched it because it interested me, not for Arjun, Draupadi and others. People have a habit of believing that the person portraying the character onscreen has the same personality off-screen. I also used to think that Shaheer was like Arjun in real life. As I am working with him, I can say that...he definitely has the same qualities like Arjun. Shaheer has a lot of goodness in him. I am happy working with him,” said Supriya.

Talking about the other co-stars, she averred, “I have neither seen Erica’s (Fernandez) work nor Cheshta's (Bhagat), but I share a great bond with them. The show's name is Kuch Rang Pyar Ke so there are different expressions of love that we are portraying.”

Since the show is about mother-children bonding...how much of Supriya does she see in Ishwari? “I see a lot of me in my character. I have a daughter and on the show, I am playing a mother to a son, so I am experiencing a mother-son bonding as well.”

Do you guide your co-stars in the show? Supriya quipped, “I don’t guide them but encourage and motivate them. If a scene comes out wonderfully, then they deserve motivation.”

While talking about the Tu Tu Main's  season 2, she answered, “Earlier, I used to do comedy, so I was typecast as the queen of comedy. I miss the comedy though! In fact, my daughter calls me a cartoon as my nature is comical. I hope shows like this come up and audiences watch them.”

When asked about working with husband and actor Sachin, she shared, “I would love to work with him. I feel my on-screen chemistry with him is better than the off-screen one. He is planning a Marathi film soon, so I might do a small role. However, I will be busy with this show so I am not sure.”

Good luck Supriya!
