The grand premiere of Nach Baliye 9 was quite anticipated, and it was surely worth the wait, as the show promises a whole lot of drama, entertainment, and of course DANCE.
One of the cutest couples of the show, Saurabh Raj Jain and Ridhima Jain are all set to enthrall the audiences with their chemistry and performance. Saurabh is known for his performances in mythological shows like Mahabharat, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, and Chandragupta Maurya.
TellyChakkar got in touch with Saurabh, who spoke at length about the reason for his participation in the show, difficulties he has experienced in it, and more. Read on!
Do you think playing mythological characters takes away your real identity?
I think with all the exuberance of work, costumes, and everything else, people at times may not be able to recognize the actor without the attire and the exuberance. So, yes, that does happen when you are playing a mythological character. If you are doing well in those characters, people appreciate you as a character more than an actor. Like for me personally, my experience after playing Krishna was that people would call me Krishna at various places and events. Some of them would know my name as Sourabh, but most of the people would call me Krishna. Later on, the same thing happened with Mahadev and now Dhananand. Calling people by their character names is common for fiction and regular daily soaps also, because I remember when I played Anand in Parichay and Yuvraj in Uttaran, people used to call me by the character name.
Is this the sole reason you participated in the show?
No, it is not the sole reason. I participated in the show also because Ridhima and I would get some good time together. It has been long since we have spent time. We couldn't be together when Ridhima conceived because I was out for shooting. So when this opportunity came, I thought maybe we could be together for a longer duration of time considering that we will have rehearsals quite often. One more reason specific to me is that I have always shied away from dancing. I am very scared of dancing on stage, and this is a sort of a challenge for me to tackle.
Since Ridhima is not from the industry, do you think it's going to be a tad bit difficult for you guys to compete with others in the show?
It may or may not be. I have no idea, and I am not even giving much thought to it, because sometimes, I think the audience relates more to people who are like them, that is, if they are not from the industry. Such people might just have an added advantage. Our first performance has happened, and Ridhima has really shined in that. Everybody has given their thumbs up to Ridhima for how she performed on stage. So, thinking all of that, I am not worried.
