Many in our film industry have Salman Khan to thank for having built their film careers. Be it Himesh Reshammiya or Katrina Kaif, none of these people would have even made a whisper in Bollywood had it not been for the largesse of Bhai. But ever wondered who Salman is indebted and thankful to for having motivated him when he was on his lowest ebb? Well, on Koffee with Karan (Star World), Salman spoke about a certain ‘Kailash’ and credited him for pulling him (Salman) out of depression when he was going through a break up. On the show, Salman revealed that Kailash had taken him to a pond and asked him to dip his hand inside the lake. On doing so, Kailash asked him what he felt. ‘I can feel fish,’ said Salman to which Kailash replied, ‘There are many such fishes in the pond.’ That message was enough to bring Salman out of his depression. He then went on to focus on his career and made a name for himself. Of course with fame and money, new girls came into Salman’s life. But Salman, the man with the golden heart that he is, never forgot Kailash who had a major role to play in his formative days. Kailash’s identity would have remained a surprise had Karan Johar not taken his full name - Kailash Surendranath- later in the show. We ran into Kailash a couple of days ago at Goa Portuguesa, an upscale restaurant run by Suhas Awchat. The mood was vibrant inside as Suhas was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Goa Portuguesa with his family and friends. While a steady stream of visitors from Anu Malik to Dilip Vengsarkar came in to partake in the celebrations, we saw a happy looking Kailash nursing his drink and soaking in the ambience. We, of course, could hardly resist the opportunity of striking a conversation with this veteran ad-filmmaker. After exchanging some pleasantries, we asked Kailash about Koffee with Karan. “I have been inundated with calls and messages ever since Salman took my name on Koffee with Karan,” said Kailash who watched the episode on the internet. “I texted Salman and asked him why he took my name. He said that I deserved all of the praise. ” Kailash whose friendship with Salman goes back a long way also revealed how his own baaraat started from Salman’s place. “My baaraat went from Salman’s place to Hotel Searock.” However, when asked if he has any upcoming project with the macho actor, Kailash became tightlipped. “Well may be. Just wait for Salman to make an announcement. I can’t say anything,’ said Kailash with a wink. Well, given the bonding that Salman and Kailash share, we are sure this awesome twosome will come out with something that would be as crackling as their own impressive personalities.
